The largest 4th of July event west of the Mississippi is bringing back all of its beloved traditions during this annual weekend of Independence Day festivities to Huntington Beach.
Huntington Beach Annual 4th of July Celebration
Now a world-class destination, the City of Huntington Beach held its very first 4th of July Celebration 118 years ago. This huge multi-day event draws thousands to Huntington Beach every year, and It’s with great pride that SoCal's Surf City residents come together and welcome visitors from all over for a weekend of seaside, family-friendly fun.
Pier Vendor Festival
All weekend long visitors can stroll down Main St to the Pier Vendor Festival, featuring 70+ vendors including craft + retail booths, a wide array of food trucks, multiple bars, live music, prizes, and more! There will also be a Community Corner, highlighting multiple nonprofit organizations. Guests of all ages are welcome to snack, sip, shop, and more right next to the sand.
Attendees can also partake in a wide array of carnival rides, games, and amusements, offering an extra dose of fun for all ages. Guests can purchase carnival tickets beforehand or upon arrival to take a spin on the Ferris wheel, play to win prizes, and more.

Surf City Run
Bright and early on Monday, July 4th, hundreds will take on the Annual Surf City Run. This year, the Surf City Run will be heading back downtown to the neighborhood streets; beautiful course participants have come to know and love over the years. Residents, visitors, families, and more will enjoy an 'All-American' start to the holiday by running this parade route, where runners can take in views of the Huntington Beach Pier and the Pacific Ocean, before a gentle sloping return to Worth Park for the finish.
Resident 5K: 7AM | Open 5K: 8AM | Stroller 5K: 8:15AM | Kids 1 Mile Fun Run: 9AM (ages 1-12)
All participants receive an official finisher medal, with awards given to first, second, and third place (male and female in each age division). Advance registration is currently open (closes June 26), with onsite / race-day registration also available.

Huntington Beach Independence Day Parade
A highlight amongst an extended weekend of festivities, HB’s Independence Day Parade is back and not to be missed! 2022 will mark the first year of the Traditional Main Street Parade since 2019 (due to Covid restrictions). Starting at 10 AM at Main St. & PCH, the parade annually attracts 200+ registered groups to participate including color guards, vintage cars, marching bands, community groups, and more to walk, ride and perform for 250k viewers along the 2.5-mile parade route, and seen via live broadcast on KABC.

Annual Home and Business Decorating Contest
Traditions have already begun in downtown Huntington Beach, as local residents and businesses have started planning and decorating for the Annual Home and HB Downtown BID Decorating Contest. Prizes and trophies will be awarded to the best theme décor for homes along the Main St. Parade Route and businesses in the downtown area.

Fireworks Over The Ocean
To close out the weekend of festivities, the ongoing, celebratory tradition of Fireworks Over The Ocean Presented by Mr. Robert Mayer & Family will commence at 9 PM on the 4th of July. All beach viewing is open to the public, with limited paid tickets for reserved seating on the pier.
