Spring at Irvine Barclay Theatre: A Season of Music, Dance, and Conversation

Irvine Barclay Theatre welcomes spring with an outstanding lineup of performances, featuring award-winning musicians, renowned dance companies, and thought-provoking speakers. This season includes jazz and Celtic music, contemporary dance, ballet, and an evening with acclaimed author Amy Tan.

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler – A Trip to New Orleans
Saturday, March 15, 2025 | 8 p.m.
The Barclay Jazz & Beyond Orchestra returns for a Mardi Gras–inspired jazz celebration, featuring a 19-piece big band led by Shelly Berg, with drummer Herlin Riley and special guest soloists. Expect a night of contemporary second-line music and fresh takes on classic jazz standards. Tickets range from $82 to $125.

Danú: Traditional Music of Ireland
Thursday, March 20, 2025 | 8 p.m.
Celebrating over two decades of bringing traditional Irish music to audiences worldwide, Danú’s high-energy performances have captivated listeners across Europe, India, Israel, and beyond. Featuring brilliant musicianship and stunning vocals, the group offers a musical journey through its native Ireland. Tickets are $28 to $105.

National Theatre Live Screening: Nye
Sunday, March 23, 2025 | 3 p.m.
Michael Sheen stars as Aneurin “Nye” Bevan in this new National Theatre production exploring the life of the man who shaped Britain’s National Health Service. Written by Tim Price and directed by Rufus Norris, this surreal and powerful play follows Bevan’s journey from coal miner to one of Britain’s most influential politicians. Filmed live in London and presented in HD. Tickets are $22 to $25.

Asleep at the Wheel: Happy Trails Tour

For more than 50 years, Asleep at the Wheel, led by Ray Benson, has been a driving force in Western swing music. With over 30 albums, 10 Grammy Awards, and millions of miles on the road, the band continues to introduce this distinctly American genre to new audiences. Kaumakaiwa and Kulaiwi: Contemporary Music & Hula of Indigenous Hawai‘i

Kaumakaiwa Kanaka‘ole, a five-time Na Hoku Hanohano (Hawaiian “Grammy”) Award-winner, blends traditional Hawaiian chants and falsetto singing with modern influences. Performing alongside award-winning guitarist Shawn Pimental and the acclaimed Hawaiian group Kulaiwi, this program celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the islands through music and dance. Tickets are $28 to $105.

Storm Large
Thursday, April 10, 2025 | 8 p.m.
Known for her powerhouse vocals and fearless stage presence, Storm Large brings her signature style to a diverse setlist that includes American songbook classics, Broadway hits, rock anthems, and her own originals. She has earned standing ovations on America’s Got Talent and beyond. This performance contains adult content. Tickets are $34 to $130.

Festival Ballet Theatre Presents The Sleeping Beauty
April 12 & 13, 2025
This beloved ballet tells the classic tale of Princess Aurora, cursed at birth to sleep for 100 years until awakened by true love’s kiss. Featuring choreography inspired by Marius Petipa and set to Tchaikovsky’s celebrated score, this production offers breathtaking performances for audiences of all ages. Tickets are $54 to $74.

Parsons Dance Company
Thursday, April 17, 2025 | 8 p.m.
Known for its bold and athletic choreography, Parsons Dance Company has earned an international reputation for creating visually stunning contemporary dance. Founded by Artistic Director David Parsons and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley, the company has performed in over 30 countries at venues such as the Kennedy Center and the Sydney Opera House. In Conversation with Amy Tan
Friday, April 18, 2025 | 8 p.m.
Bestselling author Amy Tan shares insights into her writing process and discusses her latest book, The Backyard Bird Chronicles, which blends memoir, nature observations, and original illustrations. The evening includes an audience Q&A and book signing. Tan’s works, including The Joy Luck Club and The Bonesetter’s Daughter, have been translated into 35 languages. She was awarded the 2021 National Humanities Medal by President Biden. Tickets are $34 to $120.
