Descanso Restaurant in Costa Mesa presents Taquero Tuesdays in the popular Plancha Room, weekly from 5 p.m. to close beginning May. For one night each week, the Plancha Room will transform to recreate the streetside taco stand experience and present taco-lovers with a casual, a-la-cart way to enjoy their favorite food in a lively atmosphere.
A beloved part of Mexican cuisine and culture, the street-side Taquero, or Taco Man, is revered for serving up the freshest, most flavorful tacos made with expertly grilled meats and vegetables. Descanso brings this interactive taco bar experience to its elevated restaurant setting as artful taco creations are prepared a-la-minute in front of the guest.
Courtesy of Executive Chef Fonzy De Zuniga, the Taquero Tuesday menu highlights gourmet $2 Street Tacos and $3 Quesadillas with a choice of Descanso’s staple seasoned proteins of steak, chicken, carnitas, and shrimp with weekly featured proteins. Dishes are served with traditional streetside toppings including housemade salsa, cilantro, and onions. All night long, indulge in Happy Hour drink specials including $4 bottled beers, $5 draft beers, $5 wine by the glass, and $6 specialty margaritas.
New on Tuesdays and throughout the week, Descanso’s traveling Tequila Cart brings guests a premium, tableside tequila experience. Discover interesting and high-end sipping tequilas including Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia ($28) and Herradura Selección Suprema ($77) to accompany your meal.
The Plancha Tables at Descanso adhere to physical distancing guidelines from local and state agencies with more than six feet between tables and a natural six-foot separation between chef and guest. The high-powered ventilation system in the Plancha Room continuously circulates outside air and exceeds CDC recommendations. All servers and Plancha Chefs wear masks and gloves and practice frequent and thorough handwashing.
Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to close
Taquero Tuesday Plancha Room dining is walk-in only, no reservations. For more information about Descanso, to make a reservation for the dining room or outdoor patio, and to place an order for takeout visit DescansoRestaurant.com or call 714.486.3798.
