The designer showcase home is open from April 24 to May 20 as the Philharmonic Society of Orange County presents the 20th Philharmonic House of Design in Laguna Beach. The extensive 11,000 sq. ft. estate is a collaboration of more than 20 sought after interior designers from LA and OC who transformed this home into a contemporary retreat with a touch of craftsman, featuring an infinity pool and terraces, and a helipad surrounded by a circular driveway. The home will also serve as a showroom for renowned artists of Laguna Beach to display and sell their works.

Touring the home costs $40 and proceeds will benefit the Philharmonic Society Youth Music Education Programs. The 2012 Philharmonic House of Design is also available to rent for corporate and private parties.

Open for tours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays for “Meet the Designers,” April 24 through May 20. The House of Design includes an onsite café and boutique as well as opportunity prizes.

Tell Me a Story

LUNAFEST is a one-night film festival on Saturday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Newport Beach presented by the Zonta Club and the Soroptimist International of Newport Harbor.  The nine films were selected to inspire discussion, bring on laughter, touch your heart, and motivate you to make a difference. LUNAFEST is united by storytelling - by, for and about women.

One of the nine short films screening this year is supermodel turned filmmaker Christy Turlington Burns’ "Every Mother Counts: Obstetric Fistula.” The film is a topic of keen interest to the Zonta Club, as it helps the Zonta International Foundation, which supports the elimination of obstetric fistula and the reduction of maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity in Liberia.

Other charities benefiting include the Breast Cancer Fund, and Collette's Children's Home in Huntington Beach. Tickets to the films cost $35, and there’s a VIP reception from 6:15 to 7 p.m. for $50.
