Please consider changing the future of two bright and caring Kenyans that I met in a small village in Western Kenya. My best friend Mona Shah of Moxxe PR and I will be guest bartending during Ra Sushi’s Puma Thursday next Thursday, May 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. at RA Sushi in Tustin to help educate Jack & Milly in Kenya.
RA Sushi will donate 10 % of all food and drink sales made from 7 to 10 p.m. to help fund their university education. RA Sushi’s Puma Thursday is an extended happy hour featuring great food and drink specials, ranging from $2 to $7.
Hip Meets Philanthropy
Hip meets philanthropy at CASA's annual fete, The Celebration of Children Black and White Ball on Saturday at 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on May 19 at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach.
Multi-platinum , three-time Grammy-Nominated Taylor Dayne, (with 17 top 10 hits – including Tell it to My Heart & Love Will Lead You Back), will perform live, while television and film star Alan Thicke, (of TV hit series Growing Pains) will serve as the celebrity award presenter. The evening will honor the An Family, and Ted and Lourdes Nark for their generosity, leadership and impact on the 1,200 foster children served at CASA.
Elizabeth An, principal of AnQi at South Coast Plaza and CEO of House of An, serves on the Advisory Board of CASA along with co-honoree Ted Nark. Honoree Lourdes Nark is chairing the big event along with OC Taste-Makers Britt Meyer, Nancy Eaton and Wendy Tenebaum. Distinguished Steering Committee Members include OC leaders Susan Kang, Elizabeth Segerstrom, Dee Higby, Betty Huang, Sheila Peterson, Sylvia Damiani, Deborah Gunn-Downing, Christina Lyons, Linda Young, among others.
County's Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) trains volunteers in Orange County to serve as advocates for children who have been severely abused, abandoned and neglected. In past years, The Black and White Ball has raised more than $800k, and this year CASA’s goal is a cool million. The event promises to be the charity fete of the year and is sure to be a sell-out!
Tickets cost $275. Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa is at 21500 Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. For tickets and more information, visit http://casacelebrationofchildren.org/
