The Art of Art
Looking through the right lens, a visit to the museum can be a beautiful and exciting experience, however, looking at art is an art in itself. Looking through an untrained eye can sometimes lead to a frustrating and overwhelming time - don't worry, there's help on the way.
Today from noon to 1 p.m., Executive Director Jean Stern of the Irvine Museum will host a special lecture called “The Art of Looking at Art” at the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach. Visitors are invited to the Festival of Arts’ Forum Theater where they’ll become familiarized with the basic tenets of representational art. With over 40 years experience as an art historian, Stern will discuss the basics of composition, form, and color along with examples of paintings that best represent these elements.
The Festival of Arts is open daily through Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. (Aug. 25, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m). General admission costs $7 weekdays; weekends $10; students and seniors $4 weekdays, $6 weekends. Free admission for children 12 and under, military, and Laguna Beach residents.
