Crystal Cove Conservancy Continues 100 Years of Rich Art History at Crystal Cove State Park

Crystal Cove Conservancy, in partnership with Crystal Cove State Park, is hosting exciting summer art events starting June 21. Experience the century-long tradition of art at Crystal Cove State Park through various activities. From painting on the beach to meeting local artists, art enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the living history of art at Crystal Cove.

Crystal Cove State Park has a rich art history that spans over 100 years. Artists continue to visit each year to paint the picturesque cottages, ocean-side bluffs, and sandy beaches en plein air—on-site, in the open air.

The popular Great Plein Air Art Experience classes by the Conservancy will return to the Crystal Cove Historic District on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 13 to August 31. Led by Crystal Cove plein air artist Debbie Morines, participants will spend the day capturing the beauty of the Cove on canvas. All necessary supplies will be provided, and the workshop fee is $120 ($100 for Crystal Cove Conservancy members). Class size is limited to 12 participants, and the minimum age is 18.

For those who prefer to observe art, the new Meet the Artist events will take place on June 21 and July 5 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Held on the deck of the Crystal Cove State Park Interpretive Store in the Historic District, these events provide an opportunity to meet renowned Crystal Cove artists as they create masterpieces in front of your eyes. Long Beach-based artist Anne Kupillas will showcase her watercolor technique on June 21, followed by Gobind Boyes with her captivating seascape paintings on July 5. These Meet the Artist events are open to the public and free to attend.
