Located in the heart of DTSA, Collective2one9 will bring a new and innovative shopping hub to the Orange County community with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, November 5. A project that has been in the works for years and gone through numerous iterations after being delayed by the pandemic and construction on the long-awaited Santa Ana Streetcar, the collective connects with its resident city and urban environment by hosting a carefully curated mix of vendors.
“The goal of Collective2one9 is to provide brick-and-mortar opportunities to small businesses looking for a cool, walkable area that represents their brands. Collective 2one9 offers flexible space options, short-term commitment and minimal capital output, which mitigate risks for small entrepreneurs, allowing them to try retail, test products, and more. Our sister location, 4th Street Market, located right next door, provides a similar approach but with food entrepreneurs.” - Ryan Chase
Collective2one9 features 25 vendors ranging from art, gifts, plants, clothing and vintage fashion, pop-culture-inspired products, jewelry, coffee, and more along with ample space to host community programming and events. A truly unique and all-encompassing shopping experience brought to you by a team of local leaders; Ryan Chase (Creator/Founder), Dana Jazayeri (Co-Creator), and Alejandra Astoquilca (Manager).
Ryan Chase, East End’s own fourth-generation retailer, and 4th Street Market founder is enthused to be opening a retail establishment 100+ years after his great-grandfather owned and operated Eureka Shoes (1919) on the very same block.
Dana Jazeryi worked on public art projects and murals for the city of Santa Ana and has opened multiple businesses in DTSA, with his latest being Unlisted, a lifestyle gift shop, located on the same block as Collective2one9.
“I specialize in examining the available products in the marketplace and curating it down into a concentrated form of what I consider a good representative of that ‘genre’, and making it accessible. What sets us apart from others would be our relationships with artists, makers, and the consumer culture. It’s not the products that define us but the work that is placed into curating and acquiring the selection of goods we offer. While it’s tricky to operate in the shadows of e-commerce because many times customers treat us as a showroom. I am most proud of my ability to summarize the marketplace for our customers, and being able to work with artists and small brands that really want to put their art or products out there.” - Dana Jazayeri
Alejandra Astoquilca, Santa Ana local and art/retail pro with an extensive retail background (boutique at the LAB in Costa Mesa, art gallery, and gift/pop-culture store in DTSA) will be taking a hands-on approach to managing the collective.
“We hope to provide the community with an eclectic and inclusive space where small businesses can find success, as well as inspire other entrepreneurs to take that leap and develop their passion.” - Alejandra Astoquilca
The multi-stall retail incubator was built to provide manageable small storefronts (4x4 tables to 150 sq/ft+ stalls) to support local and emerging entrepreneurs. The space offers operationally free stalls to ease the overhead burden for retail entrepreneurs to cultivate their brand, allowing them to gain a following within the downtown Santa Ana and Orange County region.
The current concepts taking space at Collective2one9 are about 50% local Santa Ana vendors.
Atomic Art & Music | Birdie Home Botanicals | Bolla.® Company | Boss Dog | Faka’s Island Grill | Funday Collective | Infinity Sauces | Love Kat Designs | Santa Ana Secret Society | Soap Barrio | Suavecito | Taly Co. Boutique | Unlisted | Vibes Boutique | Yessi Collection
While all 25 of the vendor spaces are currently occupied, there is a waiting list for interested concepts to join, and the next steps include creating a virtual marketplace.
219 E. 4th Street in Santa Ana.
