Style Week Orange County

In celebration of local emerging designers, notable style makers and fashion brands in Orange County, Style Week Orange County kicks off Saturday for seven days of runway shows, in-store parties and fashion presentations at Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine and Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

Fashion personality, designer and Project Runway alum Nick Verreos will host one of Style Week OC’s most anticipated events at Irvine Spectrum Center, Cadillac Couture: Design Competition on Saturday at 7 p.m. Irvine Spectrum and the finale on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Fashion Island. Students from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising were challenges by Cadillac to create cocktail dresses inspired by Cadillacs with Cadillac car parts incorporated into their designs.

After the Cadillac competition at Irvine Spectrum Center there will be a runway presentation to feature fall’s hottest looks from retailers such as Macy’s, MaxStudio, and Nordstrom. Fashion Island’s runway show at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 will feature looks from Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Halston Heritage, Vince, Trina Turk, Joie and Gary’s.

Other fashionable events throughout the week include pop-up style closets and trunk shows throughout Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum Center and The Market Place to display the season’s best trends from various retailers including: Active Ride Shop,
Foreign Exchange, C. Wonder, Kendra Scott, Uno de 50, Loehmann’s, Ann Taylor LOFT, White House I Black Market and Steinmart.

Thursday, Oct. 3
Irvine Spectrum Center's Giant Wheel Court will set the stage at 6 p.m. for beauty demos and makeovers from Cirque du Soleil's head makeup artist who will give tips on how to create fall's dramatic makeup looks along with hairstyling demos by TONY & GUY.

Friday, Oct. 4
Fashion Island hosts its collection runway show at 7 p.m. in the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale's courtyard. Participating retailers include: Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Halston Heritage, Vince, Trina Turk, Joie and GARYS.

Saturday, Oct.  5
Style Week Orange County comes to a close with a finale as Fashion Island plays host to the 2nd Annual FABULOUS Soiree: A Benefit for the FIDM Museum & Galleries from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale's courtyard. This is a ticketed event and you must RSVP to get a seat.

Fascinated by Orchids

The premiere orchid festival of the year is happening this weekend at South Coast Plaza Village at the Fascination of Orchids  on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thousands of exotic orchids and orchid-growing supplies will be available to purchase and local orchid experts will give free lectures on orchid growing tips.

The beautiful outdoor setting will showcase exhibit orchids from Ecuador, Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Republic of China, the Philippines and U.S. Parking and admission are free.
