Run The OC

Looking to jump-start your New Year’s resolution? Sign up for one of So Cal’s most popular half marathons on Saturday, Jan. 11, when the 23rd Annual Kaiser Permanente Southern California Half Marathon and 5K returns to the Woodbridge community of Irvine. Races start at 8 a.m. for the 5K and Half Marathon, followed at 10 a.m. with a Kids Run for eighth graders and younger.  Races start and finish on Barranca Parkway (between Creek and Lake Streets) in Irvine.

The Southern California Half Marathon and 5K course covers flat, paved roads around neighborhoods and recreational areas of Irvine. It includes digital clocks for all 13 mile-marks; chip timing; refreshment stations every two miles; an expo and food fair after the race; and more.

Awards will be given to the top five overall male and female in each race, and the top three individuals in each age range (both male and female) will receive placement medals.
The event benefits Woodbridge High School athletics among other local schools and charities.

Visit schalfmarathon.com for all event information and registration information. In-person registration will take place on Wednesday  at Road Runner Sports in Laguna Hills (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.); Thursday at Road Runner Sports in Costa Mesa (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.); Friday at the Lakeview Senior Center parking lot (20 Lake Street, in Irvine) from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and, Saturday  at the Lakeview Senior Center parking lot (20 Lake Street in Irvine) from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Max Mara Resort Collection

Fashion followers won’t want to miss the new Max Mara Resort 2014 Collection that just hit the floor at Max Mara South Coast Plaza. The Max Mara team were inspired by Sergei Diaghilev's “The Rite of Spring” with some tunics layered over cropped pants, drop-waist silhouettes, relaxed minimalism, in a brighter color palette than the fall collection.

There’s a beautiful emerald-and-teal-blue pantsuit worn over a blush-pink blouse, coral with bubblegum pink, or pool blue with cerulean. Choose from layered cashmere knits, double-breasted blazers with built-in hoods, double-face cashmeres, and silk faille raincoats. The fall/winter sale is still going on as well.

Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Max Mara South Coast Plaza is at 1st level, Jewel court in Costa Mesa. 714.754.7900.
