A few years ago, new parents, Julie and Brad Podolec searched for healthy popsicles to help sooth their son’s teething pain. They wanted simple, fruit only popsicles without added sugar and artificial flavors and couldn’t find what they wanted so they decided to create their own.

Fast forward to today, now they own Laguna Beach based Modern Pop, a unique ice pop company with SoCal inspired fruit flavors: Raspberry Ginger, raspberry matched with a strong ginger kick; Mango Mint, chunks of mango with a refreshing mint taste; Watermelon Cilantro, watermelon accented with cilantro and twists of lime; and Strawberry Lemonade with juicy strawberries and fresh squeezed lemon.

They only sweeten their pops with small drops of agave nectar or honey. The frozen fruit bars are less than 60 calories.

Modern Pop is available at Whole Foods Markets, in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach; Bristol Farms in Santa Monica and Newport Beach; and The Fresh Market in Laguna Hills and they are quickly expanding their footprint. Soon, they will be available at nearly 10 more Bristol Farms locations this spring, most Orange County Whole Foods markets.

They are also partnering with leading Orange County hotels, and catering through the Ritz Carlton and other high end markets.
