2024 Newport Beach Film Festival Honors Nicolas Cage, Colman Domingo, June Squibb and More

The 2024 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) will host its Festival Honors on Sunday, October 20, at the Balboa Bay Resort, alongside Variety's 10 Actors to Watch. This year’s honorees include Nicolas Cage (“Longlegs”) receiving the Icon Award, Joan Chen (“Dìdi”) with the Career Achievement Award, Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”) earning the Maverick Award, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“Hard Truths”) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”) receiving Artist of Distinction Awards. George MacKay (“The End”) will be honored with the Spotlight Award, June Squibb (“Thelma”) with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Diane Warren with the Lifetime Achievement in Music Award.

Additional honorees include Finneas O’Connell, receiving the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award on October 21, and Terry Crews, who will receive the Arts Champion Award at the Festival’s Sunset Series on the same day.

The 25th annual NBFF will take place from October 17-24, showcasing films from around the world. The festival’s highlights include the Opening Night film “Old Guy,” Closing Night film “A Real Pain,” and centerpiece films “Blitz,” “Hard Truths,” “Nightbitch,” and “The Piano Lesson.”

The Variety 10 Actors to Watch honorees include Monica Barbaro, Zoë Chao, Ryan Destiny, Karla Sofía Gascón, Fred Hechinger, Ella Hunt, David Jonsson, Josh Rivera, Drew Starkey, and Toby Wallace. Additional awards will be presented to Colleen Atwood, David Alan Grier, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Jane Lynch, Peter Sarsgaard, and Christoph Waltz throughout the festival.
