Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Jazz Club at Samueli Theater is poised to bring the electrifying and intimate atmosphere of jazz to life, featuring an impressive lineup of Grammy Award-winning jazz artists for the upcoming fall season.
Among the luminaries gracing the stage are Terence Blanchard, a five-time Grammy winner and the recently crowned National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master for 2024, who will perform alongside Turtle Island on September 23. Following this, on September 30, the remarkable Grammy-winning singer Catherine Russell takes center stage. On October 28, the spotlight shifts to the Grammy-nominated composer and rising star, Miho Hazama, and her ensemble M_Unit.
The Jazz Club at Samueli Theater stands as one of the rare intimate jazz venues in Southern California, known for showcasing artists before they achieve national fame. In the fall of 2022, the young jazz sensation Samara Joy graced this stage, later going on to clinch the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and Best Jazz Vocal Album. Samueli Theater has also hosted other Grammy Award winners, including Diana Krall and Branford Marsalis.
With a cozy capacity of just 300 seats, the Jazz Club at Samueli Theater offers an immersive experience reminiscent of a prestigious jazz club. As the captivating acoustics and deep bass rhythms resonate throughout the theater, audiences can savor the full spectrum of straight-ahead, soulful jazz. With a cocktail in hand and a night filled with brilliant music, attendees are guaranteed to depart the Jazz Club at Samueli Theater with their souls thoroughly satisfied.
Looking ahead, the spring 2024 lineup promises more captivating performances, featuring artists like Cécile McLorin Salvant (scheduled for January 20, 2024) and the dynamic duo of Fred Hersch and ETHEL (set to perform on March 9, 2024). This Jazz Club consistently offers access to the finest jazz artists, presenting an eclectic mix of styles.
Tickets for all these extraordinary performances are available for purchase at scfta.org.
