Mud and water plus running makes for the perfect recipe for good clean fun. And you are in luck. There’s still time to register for the Irvine Lake Mud Run Sunday, July 17 at Irvine Lake. The race begins at 8 a.m., but morning waves are sold out. You can still register for individual or team afternoon waves before they sell out too.
The 3.8-mile off road course covers trails and hills, as well as obstacles including jump walls, ramps, crawl tubes, and mud pits. This year’s course features new improvements like a mud luge and water-drenching opportunities to help cool you off.
Register online in advance here and arrive at least one hour before start time. Registration for individuals costs $59; and $220 for the first four members of an open sized team; or $236 for teams of four.
Runners must be 13 years of age or older and in good health. Children ages two to 12 can participate in the Gavin’s Mud Puddles Kid’s Course. No need to worry about cleaning off, with more than 30 showers and some fire hoses runners can rinse off.
Wahoo’s and KROQ will be adding foods and festivities at the race, and the Action Sports & Eco Fair will feature the latest sports and eco-friendly products. The Summer of Mud Beer Garden (with valid I.D.) will offer Michelob Ultra and other brews and live music and entertainment will play throughout the day. Proceeds benefit the Gavin R. Stevens Foundation supporting Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) research an inherited retinal disease causing severe loss of vision at birth.
