Backhausdance Presents ‘Garden Flow’ at Sherman Library & Gardens

For one night in October, Sherman Gardens will be filled with music, light, and dance.  Backhausdance, Orange County’s critically acclaimed contemporary dance company, will perform Garden Flow, a site-specific dance performance inspired by a month-long residency in Sherman Gardens.

“Backhausdance is thrilled to create and premiere “Garden Flow” utilizing the landscape of the Sherman Gardens as our inspiration. Garden Flow is a multisensory, personal experience that will infuse the rhythm, presence, colors, and beauty of the gardens with the dancers’ fluidity and deeply human and emotional artistic qualities,” said Jennifer Backhaus, artistic director and founder of Backhausdance.

Guests are invited to watch and engage with the dancers as they rehearse during the weeks leading up to a final ticketed performance on Saturday, October 16 at 5:30 pm.  ‘Garden Flow’ rehearsals will take place 10:30 am until 1 pm on, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, and 10/15. Viewing of the rehearsals is free with garden admission, which is $5.00 per person for non-members, and free for members of Sherman Library & Gardens.

Tickets for the evening performance on October 16th include a pre-show reception at Cultivar Restaurant in Sherman Gardens.  A limited number of VIP tickets will include a post-performance dinner at Cultivar and an opportunity to meet the Backhausdance dancers.

“This exciting and unique collaboration with Backhausdance aligns with our mission to provide the public an oasis of inspiration, education and appreciation of history, horticulture, and the arts. Audiences of all ages are welcome to participate in the creative process by watching and following the dancers as they rehearse throughout Sherman Gardens on select days leading up to the ticketed performances,” said Scott LaFleur, Executive Director of Sherman Library & Gardens.
