For your summertime enjoyment, OC’s original food hall, The Anaheim Packing District is open with expanded outdoor seating. You can enjoy their favorite culinary creations paired alongside refreshing beverages while enjoying acoustic live tunes and even movies under the stars.
Ordering online is encouraged whenever possible before stopping in to pick up food and beverages to go or to take out to one of the many expanded outdoor areas. Food enthusiasts planning on experiencing the Packing District should note that masks are required at all times, any alcohol must be served with a bona fide meal, and those who feel sick should remain at home. Let’s explore the great outdoors with a quick tour, starting on the south side of the district and navigating north on an expedition of deliciousness.
The MAKE Building, a former 1917 marmalade factory turned modern-day makers market, offers Texas-style barbecue from Jav’s BBQ, craft beer from Unsung Brewing Company and California wine from Pali Wine Company. Sip and savor outdoors with added seating, tables and shading among the tranquil sounds of a bubbling bottle fountain. Acoustic performers will serenade happy campers every Friday from 5-7 p.m.
A short journey across the street is Orange County’s original food hall, Anaheim Packing House, home to over 25 family-owned culinary artisans. Reminiscent of its former years as a citrus packing facility, the workers now pack up gourmet food, such as ADYA’s Indian Flavors, Urbana’s Mexican Gastronomy, The Iron Press’ pub fare, Georgia’s soul food and Sweetbird’s famous fried chicken sandwiches. The backyard is socially spaced for consumption of spirits purchased from Packing House purveyors. For those seeking a local escape, Sacred Junk Bar offers colorful vibes and conscientiously crafted cocktails.
Another al fresco option is the grassy knoll and redwood boardwalk at the iconic Farmers Park. Unwrap your eats and non-alcoholic drinks, and even enjoy live acoustic music every Wednesday 5-7 p.m., Friday 6-8 p.m., Saturday 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 1-3 p.m. On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, the Packing District purveyors become the worlds greatest concession stand for Farmers Park Flix. For those who like to pair their foodie finds with an adult beverage, 18 Folds has transformed their patio and expanded their outdoor space to the flat part of Farmers Park, just outside of their Farmhouse dim sum café.
Umami Burger is bringing their shakes, sides and burgers with the 5th taste to their great outdoors at the Packard Building. Anaheim Brewery’s beer garden is currently closed, but bottles and growlers are available to take to go.
The Packing District will continue to maximize outdoor dining. Stay tuned for the announcement of the Packing House Inside Outside at the former valet lot and a special outdoor experience from the hardworking cocktail craftsmen of Hammer Bar at the Greenhouse Garden at Farmers Park.
The Anaheim Packing District spans from 318 -500 South Anaheim Blvd. in Anaheim. For more information regarding entertainment, outdoor dining and restaurant directory, visit anaheimpackingdistrict.com
