Want your fruits and vegetables delivered from a local farm to your table in a day? It’s possible now that Laguna Beach based Alegria Fresh, a hydroponic vertical farm, offers locally grown certified organic fruits and vegetables delivered to your doorstep within 24 hours of harvest. Alegria Fresh just partnered with Orange County Produce, a third-generation family owned farm spanning more than 800 acres of Orange County.
Thanks to this new partnership between the two farms, Alegría Fresh can offer its subscribers and local chefs a variety of seasonal vegetables including organic green beans, cranberry beans, yellow squash and green zucchini, cucumbers, red and golden beets, purple carrots, radishes, strawberries, blue, red and curly kale, green bell peppers and more, all grown in Orange County.
This bountiful 12 lb. plus box of vegetables costs $35 and includes delivery within Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, Newport Beach, Corona del Mar and Dana Point. Residents outside those areas can arrange for pick up.
Through hydroponic vertical farming, Alegría Farm grows leafy greens, medicinal herbs and vegetables while using no soil, 90 percent less water, 70 percent less land and 50 percent less fertilizer. On special order, subscribers can receive these greens and medicinal herbs delivered to their door within two hours of harvest.
Alegría Fresh also offers sunflower sprouts and other microgreens such as fenugreek and pea shoots. Sprouted seeds can be delivered within an hour of their harvest to retain their full flavor and nutrient load.
