Straight from Paris, our favorite luxurious scented candle company, diptyque, just opened its first SoCal boutique at South Coast Plaza. For a diptyque enthusiast, it doesn’t get much better than this, the new boutique carries the entire diptyque home and personal fragrance collections, from its iconic candles, in fruity, floral, woody, spicy and herbal based scents, each representing a memory, travel experience or life journey from one of its founders, to its cutting-edge home diffusers, eau de toilettes, eau de parfums, home fragrances, body care products and seasonal and limited edition products.
diptyque was founded in Paris 51 years ago, at 34 Boulevard St-Germain, when three friends designing fabrics and wallpaper teamed up to open a boutique to showcase their fabrics. Their store morphed into a chic bazaar where they showcased their found items from travels and in 1963, they launched the first diptyque scented candles – Aubépine, Cannelle and Thé - and next, their first eau de toilette, a uni-sex scent, L’Eau.
Now, diptyque’s extensive products collection has blossomed to include home and personal fragrances along with a body care, travel, and its famous 34 scent, formulated to encapsulate and evoke memories of its first boutique, with notes of sparkling blackcurrant, green fig leaves, fresh rose pepper and citrus, Egyptian geranium and tuberose, along with warm woods with a touch of eucalyptus.
At dyptyque you’ll be treated to custom scent combinations, delicate hand-wrapped products in tri-colored silk paper, a candle ritual where candles are presented by releasing the wax from the jar to give a true example of the power and subtle scent.
Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tour de Cure for Diabetes
Cyclists on a mission to raise funds for American Diabetes Association (ADA) can join Saturday’s Tour de Cure cycling event in Rancho Santa Margarita. The Orange County event will have five routes for all skill levels— three road routes and two mountain bike routes through O’Neill Park.
The Tour will take cyclists through multiple cities including, Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, and San Juan Capistrano.
Enjoy live entertainment by the band Five South, a vendor village with more than 20 booths, a silent auction, bike decorating and pumpkin painting contest, a dance contest lead by the ViewSonic Birds, meet the Laker Girls, and much more. Lunch will be provided by Rubio’s.
Registration fee costs $25. You can register online here. Check in/registration starts at 6:30 a.m.; first ride starts at 7:30 a.m.
