Huntington Beach's skies are ready for a celebration as Pacific Airshow Huntington Beach marks its 10th year Oct. 2-4. Military and civilian performers from around the world will take over the shoreline for what organizers call the nation's largest airshow by attendance, with three days of action overhead plus family fun and beachfront entertainment on the sand.

Organizers just added several headliners to the lineup: the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, the U.S. Air Force Academy Wings of Blue Parachute Team, NASA's "Freedom 250" F-5 aircraft, a NASA F-15 and F-18, and the Red Bull Air Force's Gravity Industries Jetsuit demonstration. Edwards Air Force Base is sending its KC-135 "GHOST" tanker and a KC-46.

They join a crowd-pleasing roster that includes:

• U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds
• Canadian Forces Snowbirds, in their final year flying the iconic Tutor
• NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, flying his own MiG-29
• U.S. Navy F-35C Demo
• Royal Air Force Falcons Parachute Team
• Greg Colyer's Ace Maker T-33
• Dawn Patrol
• Jeff Boerboon's and Mike Goulian's Extra 330SCs
• Torrey Ward's SubSonex Microjet
• Jason Somes' MiG-17
• Red Bull Air Force performers Issa Kalfon (Gravity Jet Suit), Luke Czepiela (STOL plane) and Aaron Fitzgerald (Red Bull Aerobatic Helicopter)

The action is not limited to the sky. Inside the ticketed precinct, the NXTGN STEM LAB returns with an expanded NASA and military presence. Registered schools can attend free Friday, Oct. 2, for Students with Altitude Day, which features interactive activities and conversations for students. Guests can also visit Exhibitor Runway and the Pacific Airshow Kids Zone, enjoy live commentary, grab food and drinks, shop official merchandise and meet select performers at signing sessions.

Those who want to be closer to the show can choose from General Admission, Show Center Zone, Pier Seating and premium hospitality options, including the Garden Bar, which sold out previously. The Show Center Zone is near the Parachute Landing Area and puts guests within earshot of announcer Matt Jolley, who broadcasts live from the Commentary Lounge powered by Wingman Beer. A Top Gun tribute with Maverick, Iceman and Rooster will roam the sand for photos, and Beach Club guests can catch Beach Club Ballads, a live recreation of the famous singalong scene, complete with a pianist, daily.

Skip the traffic. Book a luxury helicopter transfer or a Surf City flyover with Maverick Helicopters at maverickhelicopter.com/cali/pacific-air-show.aspx. Uber, Lyft, shuttles and bikes are also good options. Huntington Beach police will ticket or tow illegally parked vehicles. Bike Valet, run by the City Council and Visit Huntington Beach, will be at Fifth Street, just south of Walnut Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on show days.

Shop official merchandise. Order online at shop.pacificairshowusa.com. The pop-up store at The Pier reopens Friday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m.

Pack smart. Bring sunscreen, hats, umbrellas, cameras and binoculars, and plan to drink plenty of water. Leave bulky coolers at home, since food and drink options are plentiful.

Protect your ears. Bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones for children and noise-sensitive adults. It will be loud.

Leave the drones and tents behind. The event is a strict no-drone zone for the public, and pop-up tents are not permitted. Official drone demonstrations will be conducted only by organizers.

Plan for accessibility. ADA pier seating is limited, so arrive early.
