These Amazing Shadows
Film enthusiasts mark next Tuesday at 7 p.m. on your calendar for the free Cinema Sage Hill screening of “These Amazing Shadows” featuring a Q&A with director, Paul Mariano.
The film is presented by Newport Beach Film Festival and The Studio at Sage Hill. “These Amazing Shadows” tells the history and importance of The Registry, a roll call of American cinema treasures that reflects the diversity of film. Currently the list of 525 films includes selections from every genre - documentaries, home movies, Hollywood classics, avant-garde, newsreels and silent films. “These Amazing Shadows” shows what American movies reveal about ourselves, what we did, thought, felt, aspired to be, and the lies we told ourselves.
The film, an Official Selection of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and the 2011 Newport Beach Film Festival features interviews with Christopher Nolan, Tim Roth, John Waters, Barbara Kopple, Rob Reiner, Julie Dash, Wayne Wang, Robert Rosen, Zooey Deschanel, Caleb Deschanel, John Lasseter, George Takei and Dr. James Billington, Librarian of Congress.
