Francophiles will swoon over the new Rendezvous French Bakery & Café in Corona del Mar. Co-owners and husband and wife team, Olivier and Natalie Bocchio, of Toulon, France, opened Rendezvous 8 weeks ago, in the former locally beloved Pizza Royale & Bake Shoppe location with rave reviews. (Loyal Greer’s OC readers tipped us off to this French café in no time.)

Their formula for serving made from scratch bread, pastries, desserts, sandwiches, sweet and savory crepes, paninis and more was perfected in Breckenridge, Colorado where they owned La Francaise a popular bakery/café for 7 years. The new Rendezvous is a quaint, homey place to stop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner or a Lavazza espresso drink served all day long.

We highly recommend the half-baguette sandwich, Le Lyonnais and Brie with salami, lettuce, tomatoes, olive oil and basil ($11.99) with French fries; La Patissiere almond and pear crepe (with homemade almond paste) for ($9.99); and their croissants and French baguettes are among the best we’ve tasted in Orange County.
