Parakeet Café, the health-forward eatery renowned for its fresh and vibrant approach to food, baked goods, and beverages, is delighted to announce the official opening of its first Orange County location. Located in the Crystal Cove Shopping Center, this neighborhood spot brings a feel-good dining experience to the heart of Newport Beach. Parakeet Café has earned the love of locals and visitors alike across San Diego, thanks to its creatively curated menu crafted from locally sourced, seasonal, and organic ingredients.
The brainchild of husband-and-wife duo, Carol Roizen and Jonathan Goldwasser, Parakeet Café took flight in 2017 with its flagship location in La Jolla. Their journey into healthy eating was sparked when their daughter was diagnosed with a rare disease as an infant. Seeking the best care, they relocated to the United States from Mexico City and embraced a plant-based, organic diet, calling San Diego their new home.
Today, their daughter is a healthy teenager, and the couple is committed to making clean eating accessible to their community. With soon-to-be 14 locations across Southern California, Parakeet Café is rapidly expanding, filling a void within the community and creating a gathering place where people can enjoy a chat and a wholesome meal.
The menu at Parakeet Café is a colorful tapestry of creative and unique dishes, all made from scratch using high-quality, locally, seasonally grown, organic ingredients. Notable offerings include the famous "All I Avo Wanted" (GF) featuring a blue corn waffle, smashed avocado, feta, shaved radish, over easy egg, chili flakes, and hemp seeds; the "Parakeet Bowl" (GF, Vegan) comprising brown rice, roasted mushrooms, sesame collard greens, pickled cucumbers, and almond butter miso mayo; and the "Farro Salad" (Vegan) with roasted yams, shaved fennel, carrots, breakfast radish, arugula, baby spinach, toasted almonds, fuji apples, and apple cider dijon mustard vinaigrette.
The bakery component, led by Bakery Director Quentin Collignon, delights with freshly baked goods, including his specialty, Viennoiseries—flaky croissant-like pastries—baked with love and aligned with Parakeet's mission.
Parakeet Café takes its beverage offerings just as seriously as its food, with a selection of functional superfood lattes, house-brewed teas, protein-packed smoothies, and more. Among the fan-favorites are the "Artisan Chai Latte" with black tea and organic spices; the "Magic Mushroom Matcha" made with om mushroom superfood blend, ashwagandha, and homemade lavender honey; and the "Turmeric Latte" featuring turmeric, ginger, vanilla, cardamom, and unsweetened almond milk. To complement the menu, Parakeet Café also offers a well-curated selection of local, micro-brewed beers, and biodynamic California wines.
Each Parakeet Café is thoughtfully designed with bird-adorned wallpapers, neon-lettered signs, bold colors, and natural elements, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere tailored to the local community. The newly opened Newport Beach location features walls adorned with birds, branches, lemons, and shades of green and coral.
Open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
