Harvesters will present the season’s most coveted styles from South Coast Plaza’s luxury retailers during the 28th Annual Fashion Show Virtual Presentation on October 7, to raise vital funds for Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. The first-ever virtual presentation will support Second Harvest as they meet a critical need by addressing the growing hunger crisis in Orange County during the COVID-19 pandemic. South Coast Plaza, the international luxury shopping destination, is producing and curating the runway show featuring highlights from the fall/winter 2020 collections of iconic fashion houses.
To date, the annual event has raised more than $9.5 million for Second Harvest, helping to provide 28.5 million meals over the past 27 years.
The presentation will begin with a video introduction and interviews followed by a one-of-a-kind virtual fashion show. South Coast Plaza will showcase a luxury-branded show, featuring exclusive highlights from the fall/winter collections of Chloé, Isabel Marant, Lanvin, Marni, Max Mara , Moncler, Oscar de la Renta, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace. The event will also feature a virtual silent auction featuring luxury indulgences, exclusive experiences and the latest fashion trends.
Three South Coast Plaza stylists, Nicole Pollard Bayme, Chelsea Wright, and Mahjuba Levine will also provide commentary during the show as well as an interactive post show Q & A.
Harvesters is an independent volunteer organization of committed and philanthropic women who raise funds and awareness for Second Harvest’s mission to end hunger in Orange County. Their efforts attract women of all backgrounds who are motivated to make a difference by eliminating hunger for those with the greatest need. Last year the highly-anticipated event netted over $1 million in donations to provide food for children, seniors and families in need.
Since getting ahead of anticipated demand early this year with a COVID-19 crisis plan, Second Harvest has so far met the rising need for food caused by the pandemic. But the shift in the volume of food distributed has been stunning, and there seems to be no end in sight. From March through July 2019, Second Harvest distributed 13,279,109 pounds of food. For comparison, from March through July 2020, the amount nearly doubled to 26,184,781 pounds. The economic aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic caused by high unemployment rates, looming evictions and stimulus money running out have all contributed to the hunger crisis in Orange County.
The Annual Fashion Show is made possible by the support of generous sponsors including South Coast Plaza, Corporate Legacy Harvest Sponsor City National Bank, Aston Martin and Fresh. One hundred percent of proceeds from the event will go directly to Second Harvest.
