Cycle with GRIT

A new indoor cycling studio like no other, GRIT Cycle in Costa Mesa will celebrate its grand opening Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with healthy hors d' oeuvres from Filomena's Italian Kitchen and Nekter Juice Bar and Pacific+Wine and Spirits serving Nekter mock-tails.

Co-founders Marisa Wayne, Candice Collings and Matt Bourne (pictured aboce) will unveil the philosophy of GRIT, with its “GRIT Gives” program to support “wellness minded local programs” such as the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, the Newport-Mesa YMCA, John Wayne Cancer Foundation and others that help to educate the community on health and wellness. GRIT Gives will sponsor a different community program every month donating a dollar of every class purchased to the program.  Marisa Wayne will announce the first recipient of the GRIT Gives sponsorship program at opening night.

Guests can check out the state-of-the-art QSC sound system, premium custom Schwinn Performance Plus indoor cycling bikes, and GRIT Cycle instructors will be on hand to explain the benefits of the GRIT Cycle program. A one-time opportunity is available too: save $80 off the GRIT Cycle 20 class package and leave with a GRIT Cycle swag bag.

Food Network Reality Show at Fashion Island

Get a glimpse of the filming action of the Food Network’s upcoming reality show, “Restaurant Express” with British celebrity chef and renowned restaurateur, Robert Irvine today at Fashion Island in the Neiman Marcus/Bloomingdale’s Courtyard.

The concept is that each week, Robert will test specific skills necessary to run a successful new culinary destination. However, the challenges will always be surprising, and nearly impossible.

To make certain there’s diversity in location and challenges; Robert will take the contestants on a road trip in a tour bus that becomes a rolling boot camp! The Restaurant Express bus will stop in a new city where an unpredictable challenge awaits. Chefs will be sent home until there are only two remaining, until one person walks away with their own restaurant space. This series is scheduled to air in November 2013 on Food Network.
