The Go-Go’s are heading out on a farewell tour this summer to celebrate their groundbreaking 38 years in the music industry. Their month-long tour will stop in major cities including New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. before wrapping up at Segerstrom Center for the Arts on August 28 and Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre on August 30.
The tour will feature members Charlotte Caffey, Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock and Jane Wiedlin performing their timeless catalog. L.A. based rock duo Best Coast will appear as special guests on most dates and Kaya Stewart will open all shows.
The Go-Go’s made history as the first, and even today the only, all-female band that wrote their own songs and played their own instruments to ever top the Billboard charts. In the early 1980s, their debut album, Beauty and the Beat, was #1 on the Billboard charts for six consecutive weeks, selling three million copies and making it one of the most successful debut albums of all time.
Two years later, The Go-Go’s were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and they released their sophomore album, Vacation, that same year, which was certified Gold in the US and spawned another top 10 U.S. hit with the title track.
Details on VIP meet and greet packages will be coming soon. For complete tour information visit: gogos.com.
Tickets start at $49 and go on sale today online at SCFTA.org, by calling 714.556.2787 and at the Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa.
