You can experience the beauty of Orange County by running the 12th annual U.S. Bank OC Marathon, Half Marathon or Wahoo's OC 5k on Sunday, May 1. Register online, or at the Health & Fitness Expo on Marathon weekend beginning Friday, April 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa. The two-day Health & Fitness Expo showcases national brands and state of the art footwear and training technology.
The challenging Full Marathon on Sunday, May 1 starts at 5:30 a.m. in front of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa adjacent to Fashion Island. The course runs through communities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana finishing off at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa.
The Half-Marathon starts at 6:15 a.m. in front of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa adjacent to Fashion Island and also finishes at the OC Fair and Event Center.
For those who prefer shorter and quicker races, there’s the 2016 Wahoo’s OC 5K Run/Walk. The 5K course start line is west of the marathon and half marathon finish line inside the OC Fair and Event Center. Start time is 7 a.m. at the OC Fair & Event Center, 88 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa.
Mayors from each of the four host cities will run/walk the half marathon to promote an active and healthy lifestyle to kids to help prevent the onset of child obesity. 100% of donations generated will directly go to scholarship children to participate in the 2017 Kids Run the OC Program and “Final Mile” and purchase running shoes for these scholar-shipped students.
Prices for Full Marathon: $130; Half Marathon: $120; 5K $40.
