Art In the Spring for Children

03.01.16

The Newport Beach Public Library is a great community resource and now they are offering kids art classes to inspire creativity in children ages 7-12.
There are three sessions available starting Sunday, March 6 at 2 to 3:30 p.m. At “Drawing of a Mythical Creature” children will draw a mythical being of their own creation, combining multiple animals or characters from books to create this hybrid creature. They will learn how to use colored pencils to color their sketches.

On Sunday, March 20 at 2 to 3:30 p.m. at “Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe”kids will create a "Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe" inspired project. They will paint what would be inside their imaginary wardrobe. Where would it lead and who might be inside?

On Sunday, April 10 at 2 to 3:30 p.m. at "Very Hungry Caterpillar" the kids will do a mixed media project based upon Eric Carle's "Very Hungry Caterpillar."  Inspired by Carle's style, students will paint paper using various styles and methods taught in the previous class and then glue it together, creating a collaged animal of their choice.

Cost is $20 per child per session or $50 per child for the series Limited to 30 students per class. For children ages 7-12 years. One adult must accompany each child.

Newport Beach Central Library is at 1000 Avocado Ave. in Newport Beach.
