09.19.16
Spanish-born Farruquito, touted as one of “one of the greatest flamenco dancers of this new century,” by the New York Times makes his Segerstrom Center debut on Thursday, September 29 in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall with his latest show, Improvisao, that showcases his incomparable talent for improvisation.
Farruquito comes from a flamenco family dynasty, he’s known for his passionate and precise dancing, and in Improvisao, he shares, “It is a return to my roots and a sample of what I’ve learned in this profession. Singing, guitar and dance fused with total freedom to create a different show every day.”
Farruquito, is the son of flamenco singer Juan Fernández Flores, El Moreno, and flamenco dancer Rosario Montoya Manzano, La Farruca. The heir of a unique school founded by his grandfather Farruco, he has lived his whole life immersed in pure flamenco art. He made his debut on the international scene at the age of five on Broadway in New York, with the show Pure Flamenco, sharing the stage with the most legendary figures of flamenco, among them, his family.
Since then, he has performed and toured internationally and is an award-winning flamenco legend. His latest show, Improvisao compiles the truth and the roots of flamenco at his highest level.

Pancakes in Paris Living the American Dream in France
09.16.16
Author and diner-owner in Paris, Craig Carlson will be at the Laguna Beach Books on Sunday, September 18 at 4 p.m. for a book signing for his just released memoir, “Pancakes in Paris.” After working in Paris, where breakfast is an espresso, a cigarette and a croissant he craved a traditional American breakfast.
Against all odds such as never even working in a restaurant, never raising money, and not knowing the labor laws in France, Craig created the first American style diner in Paris called Breakfast in America. Now, 13 years later and with three locations, his fascinating story is being told in this book and soon to be a film or series.
Laguna Beach Books is at 1200 S. Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.
