Newly Reimagined Sonesta Irvine

Sonesta Irvine (formerly Sonesta Irvine – Orange County Airport) just completed an extensive $20 million renovation to transform the guest experience. Thoughtfully redesigned for both business and leisure travelers, the hotel offers dramatically updated guest rooms, a modern lobby, expansive social spaces for meetings and events, and an exciting new dining destination, Haven Point Provisions & Spirits. 

All 339 renovated guest rooms are designed to be comfortable, functional, and serene, offering the perfect retreat after a long day of work or play. Each room features new furniture, lighting, and décor and includes a light, neutral color palette and airy wood tones to create a relaxing and cozy environment. New amenities include Keurig brewers, state-of-the-art televisions, spacious workstations, and complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access. Many rooms and suites offer panoramic views of the Santa Ana Mountains.

The hotel’s stylish lobby features comfortable, ample seating and communal tables with Wi-Fi connectivity. Guests can relax on an outdoor patio with a handcrafted cocktail in front of the built-in fireplace. Guests can take a lap and unwind in the indoor swimming pool. Guests can also revitalize their body and minds while relaxing in the hotel’s fitness studio, which features Zen décor. The fitness space is outfitted with new sound and television systems and the latest Peloton and Precor fitness 

Sonesta Irvine is ready to accommodate gatherings ranging from small workshops to major gala events, with nine flexible meeting rooms comprising more than 8,700 square feet of function space, including the 3,700 square-foot Catalina Ballroom. The Avalon and San Clemente rooms, perfect for smaller meetings or breakout sessions, each hold up to 80 guests. Expansive windows in both spaces offer natural light and views of Irvine and the surrounding mountains. Ample pre-function and lounge area provide space for registration, coffee breaks, and exhibits. 

Sonesta Irvine is the first Sonesta property to introduce the Sonesta Work Suite, a new multi-zone meeting design concept that was developed based on customer feedback to create a functional space that supports the ways professionals are working, meeting,, and collaborating today. The Sonesta Work Suite accommodates both small gatherings and large groups, with seating for up to 54 people, and is the ideal venue for board meetings, social events, and brainstorming sessions. This expansive space encourages collaboration with several self-contained work areas and offers a private patio perfect to recharge with an open-air break. All meeting spaces are equipped with dropdown screens, professional audio and visual equipment and video-conference capabilities. Full-service catering is also available in all meeting areas.

Led by Executive Chef John Ruiz, who previously worked at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa and The Modern Honolulu Hotel, the Haven Point Provisions & Spirits restaurant offers creative, contemporary cuisine with a Southern California twist. The menu highlights locally sourced ingredients and products. The eclectic breakfast menu features a Broken Yolk Sandwich with Applewood Bacon, Aged Cheddar, Tomato, and Arugula, on Sadie Rose Baking Co’s Sourdough Bread. The all-day menu features starters such as Fried Chicken Bites with a Buttermilk Biscuit and Sweet-Heat Fresno Pepper Jam and Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower with Charred Jalapeno Pesto. Entrees to satisfy any appetite include Pan Roasted Kuna Bay Salmon with Green Bean Quinoa Salad topped with Cucumber Yogurt and Grilled NY Steak with Chimichurri and Chili Dusted Shoestring Fries. Sweet treats include a Warm Triple Chocolate Brownie and seasonal fruit tarts. 

The contemporary bar inside the hotel pairs craft cocktails with delicious bar bites such as the Crispy Squid-Shishito Pepper with Black Pepper-Citrus Dip and Roasted Parmesan Cauliflower with Charred Jalapeño Pesto.

Grab-and-go options, snacks, sundries, and beer and wine are also available in the 24-hour Pantry, located in the lobby.

Alton Brown Live: Beyond The Eats – The Holiday Variant at Segerstrom Center

Television personality, author, and Food Network and Netflix star Alton Brown will be bringing Alton Brown Live: Beyond The Eats – The Holiday Variant tour at Segerstrom Center For The Arts during the holiday season.

 Brown originated the live culinary variety show with his “Edible Inevitable,” “Eat Your Science,” and “Beyond The Eats” tours that have performed in 200-plus cities with more than 550,000 fans in attendance. His latest production arrives at Segerstrom Center for the Arts on December 20 and mixes together science, music, food, and festive fun into two hours of pure entertainment. Tickets are on sale at altonbrownlive.com.

 Brown says fans can expect “more cooking, more comedy, more music, and more potentially dangerous science stuff with a sprinkle of seasonal spices. Plus, you’ll see things I’ve never been allowed to do on TV.” Critics and fans have raved about the interactive components of Brown’s shows. He warns, “Prepare for an evening unlike any other and if I call for volunteers…think twice.”

Alton Brown has been on the Food Network for over 20 years and is best known as the creator, writer, and host of Good Eats, Good Eats: Reloaded, and Good Eats: The Return. He also hosted Cutthroat Kitchen and served as the culinary commentator on Iron Chef America. He is the host of Top 10 new Netflix Iron Chef reboot “Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend.” 

There are two James Beard awards with Brown’s name on them in a drawer in his office, and somewhere in the world there’s a coveted Peabody awarded for Good Eats that was stolen out of his car back in 2013.
