Holsteins Shakes & Buns TURNS ONE

Holsteins Shakes and Buns at Bloomingdale’s in South Coast Plaza, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a week-long toy drive for Giving Children Hope. You can come in and dine at the restaurant and bring an unwrapped toy to donate between Tuesday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 5 and receive a complimentary virgin “Birthday Cake Shake,” made with birthday cake crumble and topped with rainbow sprinkles. 

The modern Las Vegas burger concept, which opened in Costa Mesa last September, is known for its creative menu of specialty burgers, small bites, salads, and alcohol-infused “Bam-Boozled” shakes.

Signature menu items include The Gold Standard burger featuring a dry-aged beef patty stacked high with tomato confit, smoked bacon, aged goat cheddar cheese with arugula; and the secret-menu Billionaire Burger made with a thick Kobe beef patty and topped with foie gras, port onion marmalade, frisee and truffle mayo. 

Holsteins also boasts extensive beer and wine lists, after work Happy Hour from 4 to 7 p.m. and late-night Happy Hour and live music in the bar/lounge Friday and Saturday from 9 to 11 p.m. 

Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

THE PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY’S 2016-17 CONCERT SEASON

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County’s 2016-2017 just announced that single tickets to concerts are available starting today.

Highlights of the Society’s 63rd season includes international touring orchestras such as the world-renowned Berliner Philharmoniker in its first Orange County appearance in 15 years, led by Sir Simon Rattle; the Danish National Symphony Orchestra with soprano Deborah Voigt under the baton of Fabio Luisi; Esa-Pekka Salonen with the Philharmonia Orchestra; and the Taiwan Philharmonic in its U.S. debut.

The season also marks the return of internationally acclaimed artists such as violinist Itzhak Perlman, pianists Yuja Wang and Emanual Ax, and the Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet. The 15th Anniversary of the Laguna Beach Music Festival also returns featuring guest artistic director, cellist Johannes Moser.

The Society’s holiday offerings include the Canadian Brass for its third consecutive season, and also the famed Vienna Boys Choir in a special holiday program. The 2016-17 season also marks the continuation of the Society’s Eclectic Orange offerings, with performances by Grammy Award-winning tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain, Japanese taiko drumming ensemble Kodo, along with the Havana Cuba All-Stars on their U.S. debut tour.
