Summer Garden Party at Sherman Library & Gardens

Sherman Library & Gardens’ Volunteer Association presents a Summer Garden Party fundraiser taking place throughout Sherman Gardens’ 2.2-acre botanical gardens in Corona del Mar on Saturday, August 27, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
At the Summer Garden Party guests will enjoy:
Artists in the Garden- Painting and selling their original artwork ‘Inspired by Nature’– Summer Art Exhibit of flora and fauna as interpreted by internationally acclaimed mosaicist Irina Charny Garden Party Hat Contest – Meet the judges! A professional stylist from South Coast Plaza, the editor of Orange Coast magazine, and the owner of Recycled Rags in Corona del Mar will pick the winners! Prizes for Best Garden-Themed Hat, Best DIY/Handmade Hat, and Best Children’s Hat.
Enter upon arrival. Bouquet Bar - Select from a variety of blooms curated by accredited floral designer Dawn Mones. Create your own personalized bouquet to take home. 608 Dahlia – Executive Chef Jessica Roy will prepare a delicious Garden Party quiche and green
salad for all attendees to enjoy. Posey Frame - Pose for pics behind an elaborate frame of flowers created by Sherman Library & Gardens’ horticulturists.
Silent Auction & Raffle– Win unique gifts and experiences generously donated by members, local merchants, and restaurants Live music too!
Tickets are $60 for Members and $80 for Non-Members. Proceeds support children’s education programs at Sherman Library & Gardens.

The 80th Annual Nisei Week Returns to Little Tokyo

Celebrate Japanese and Japanese American heritage and traditions during the 80th annual Nisei Week Japanese Festival, one of Los Angeles’ largest Japanese cultural experiences, taking place through Sunday, August 21.
As one of the nation’s longest-running multi-weekend ethnic festivals, Nisei Week pays homage to those who blazed the trail for Japanese-American tradition within the vibrant city of Los Angeles during two weekends of free, family-friendly cultural events, interactive activities, live music, and more.

Take a front seat and enjoy the art of Taiko drumming by groups from Southern California.
Ondo Public Street Dancing & Closing Ceremony
Sunday, August 21, 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. | 1st Street
The public is invited to join Nisei Week’s finale – the Japanese tradition of dancing in the street with live entertainment to close out the annual festival.
