Twilight Tastings brew up Spring Flavors

03.11.14

By Natalie Aronson

Taste of Brews presented its Twilight Tasting event on Saturday evening, hosting hundreds of guests eager to sample this season's up and coming beverages. The event, which took place at the Lyon Air Museum at John Wayne Airport, took guests on a delectable journey sampling craft beers, wines and light bites. The Mardi Gras-themed event showcased the greatly anticipated spring microbrews, which featured tastes of pear and apple hard ciders and beers. Bourbon Street beads were presented to each guest upon their arrival along with a complimentary tasting glass to carry them through the evening.

Guests could enjoy live music and the sights and stories behind the historic aircrafts displayed inside the museum while perusing the walkways lined with savory samplers and sweeter selections. Proceeds from the evening benefitted We ROCK (We Run OC Kids), Make a Wish OC, Working Wardrobes and Next Up Foundation.

Aside from ticket sales, proceeds from the silent auction and raffle played a huge role in raising support for these local organizations. The relaxed ambiance set an enjoyable tone for the evening, which brewed up conversations between friends new and old, who could walk freely throughout the venue or sit back and relax.

Twenty craft breweries, including Lagunitas, Noble and Stone, and 5 restaurants from Stonefire Grill, to Whole Foods were featured, including a selection of wines, ciders, spirits, and bakery items. The evening was full of hearty conversations and even richer palettes. To tantalize your taste buds, be sure to check out the next Taste of Brews event, taking place April 19 in the Inland Empire.

A little quirk + whimsy for your accessories!

03.11.14

By Holly Clinard of Holly in Heels

There are tons of accessories that are currently filling my cups, bowls and dishes that line the vanity table in the corner of my bedroom (just ask the guy who sleeps next to me!). In addition to my mild obsession with shoes, I do have a semi-amazing obsession with accessories, too. With a big collection of oversized colorful earrings, metallic watches - big and small, shiny bangles and bib necklaces, there's a lot of real estate in my closet filled with these pretty things!

But my latest accessory find was dreamed up by an Austin, Texas designer, Amanda Dimova. Dimova started her style around 2006, making bold statement pieces from leather and crystals, even acrylic and wood baubles. From a one-woman operation, her brand, Vinca, is now sold worldwide - from Amsterdam to Korea - loved by customers who appreciate the brand's sheer cuteness + quirkiness! Yep, you'll notice unicorns, french sayings, and even sriracha bottles in this collection - bound and ready to grab your stylish attention.

All of the Vinca wooden and acrylic pieces are made from original drawings by designer Amanda Dimova herself, and then cut and assembled by her team in a "micro-manufacturing" type style. With most of the raw materials sourced right here from the good ol' U.S. of A., there's an unmatched quality that I notice myself in the cute wooden-diamond studs that I've been sportin'.

Check out the full line of Vinca jewelry online now, also available at your nearest Kitson, Nordstrom and fab.com and browse a few of my personal quirky faves of this season:

Enjoy the addition to your own accessory collection with Vinca jewels, and make sure to LIKE Vinca on Facebook for all of the latest whimsy goods!

xoxo,
