Great Eats at East Borough

06.19.15

By Mimi Ngo

Located at The CAMP in Costa Mesa, you will find a casual outdoor patio closely resembling an outdoor eatery in Vietnam. This little food getaway is called East Borough. It offers a refreshing twist on traditional Vietnamese/French street food without losing sight of authenticity.

The menu offers salads, spring rolls, vermicelli noodle entrees and rice dishes.  East Borough also offers a variety of Bánh Mì (baguette sandwhiches), and although they do not serve Pho, they do make a Pho baguette sandwich.

Traditionally, Vietnamese spring rolls are made with mostly shrimp, pork or tofu. In addition to the traditional fillings, you will find a chicken option seasoned with fresh ginger and served with their house peanut sauce.

If you’re in the mood to satisfy your sweet tooth, for $2, you can indulge in four crispy sesame balls which are small pastries filled with a sweet mung bean paste.

Seating can be limited at peak hours so curbside ordering is also available.

Food Pantry Friday

06.19.15

One of our favorite local nonprofits, Project Hope Alliance, is dedicated to ending homelessness in Orange County through an innovative rapid rehousing program.

Part of their mission also includes PHA’s Food Pantry, which provides non-perishable essentials and personal hygiene items for the many of the families they serve.

We’re incorporating a Food Pantry Friday element to announce what is needed most at PHA’s Food Pantry. Right now they are in need of natural snack items — healthy granola bars, natural fruit snacks, etc.

You can learn more about PHA and their Food Pantry here.
