Dancing for Tomorrow’s Stars
03.20.13
On Saturday, the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa’s sixth annual fundraising gala, "Dancing for Tomorrow's Stars,” will be celebrated at the Grove of Anaheim. This elegant evening of dinner and dancing pairs community leaders with professional ballroom dancers just like the TV show, and celebrates Newport-Mesa's 73 years of philanthropic services to children in the community.
The 2013 Dancing for Tomorrow’s Stars event features an exciting dance competition and judging lineup of “celebrity” dancers: Ray Eldridge, Stephanie Argyros, Shawn Weatherly Harris, Christopher Gialanella, Elizabeth An, and Gordon Orsborn. Dancing for Tomorrow’s Stars fundraiser starts with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. on Saturday, at the Grove of Anaheim, and continues with the competition, followed by open dancing.
Tickets cost $200 per person and are available through the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa. For more information, ticket purchases, and to vote for your favorite dancers visit here or call 949.645.6929.

Late Night with the Yard House
03.18.13
Where to eat late in Orange County? The Yard House just came to the rescue with its new Eat Late menu, served only after 10 p.m. featuring tasty dishes created by Executive Chef Carlito Jocson.
Yard House’s Eat Late menu, inspired by affordable, urban street food, takes care of late night cravings including a Black Truffle Cheeseburger, a natural beef patty grilled and topped with house-made truffle cheese, tomato bacon jam and placed on a potato bun ($7.95); a Pastrami Dog (pictured above), an all-beef hot dog topped with thin slices of pastrami, yellow horseradish mustard and fried green cabbage drizzled with malt vinegar ($6.75); our favorite Chilaquiles, a crisp mound of tortilla chips tossed with onion and smoky chipotle sauce then topped with jack cheese, sour cream, guacamole, tomatillo sauce and a fried egg ($5.85); and Monte Cristo Pops, ham, turkey and Swiss cheese mini sandwiches deep-fried and dusted with powdered sugar and served with a jalapeno peach syrup ($6.35).
Yard House’s new Eat Late menu is just another bonus, to the restaurant’s already popular Late-Night Happy Hour, which is offered in most areas Sunday-Wednesday from 10 p.m. to close and features select half-price, full portion appetizers and drink specials.
Eat Late item can be paired with one of Yard House’s 100-250 beers on tap, crafted cocktails, Fresh & Skinny cocktails at 170 calories or less, one of the many wines by the bottle or glass, or Yard House’s signature green iced-tea.
The Yard House is at 1875 Newport Blvd. in Costa Mesa. 949.642.0090; at the Irvine Spectrum at 71 Fortune Drive in Irvine 949.753.9373; 160 South Brea Blvd., in Brea. 714.529.9273; and at Fashion Island 849 Newport Center Drive in Newport Beach.
