OC’s Butterfly House celebrates its opening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach. It’s home to native OC butterflies and nectar plants. The opening coincides with an eco faire with butterfly themed crafts made with recycled materials, face painting, and eco-games. The much-anticipated Rustica, an exclusive new restaurant by award-winning Chef Grant MacPherson just opened at Fashion Island. Rustica features a blend of modern Italian and California cuisine.
With some 50 acclaimed restaurants and dining concepts worldwide already under his belt—namely, Malaysia’s Datai Hotel, Raffles Hotel in Singapore, Wynn Las Vegas and Wynn Macau—Rustica will be where he returns to his first passion– cooking.
The menu offers almond wood-fired flatbreads, hand-crafted pastas and unique salads, as well as entrees like black peppered Kobe Beef carpaccio, wild mushroom risotto and roasted Pacific salmon with white beans. Favorites on the menu include tuna Nicoise, golden beet salad with polenta croutons, and dry-aged beef. And save room for homemade desserts!

Open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., with the last seating at 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 p.m. on weekends.
