Electra Offers Ticino Bike - Tutto Bene!

Just in time for Spring and Summer, cycling has never been cooler. Tons of brightly colored single speed bikes zip across campuses and neighborhoods, while old rusty cruisers continue to ply the beaches and tree-lined sidewalks.
Believe it or not, bike styles are actually a cyclical (no pun intended) fashion just like clothes and accessories. Back when I was cruising the bike path in Newport, it was all about the Schwinn cruiser. Then the mountain bike took over in the ‘90s, followed by the single speed - which continues its hot trend across So Cal. But one bike that never went out of style is the European city bike. Characterized by long wheelbases, comfy saddles, wrap-around fenders and easy handling, these bikes have been cruising cities like Amsterdam, Paris and Rome since WWII and “The Bicycle Thief.” So the time was ripe for Electra Bike’s latest offering, the Ticino.
Offered in men’s and ladies’ models in several configurations from the $2000 20-speed Ticino 20D to a $1250 single speed Ticino Lux, this bike oozes style and quality. Electra made a name for itself bringing back cool retro cruiser designs, but went upscale first with their Amsterdam model, and most recently with this luxurious ride. Complete with the small design touches that give the euro bikes their charm (such as hammered fenders, cool braze-on design touches and bar-end brake levers), these 700cc (29-inch) wheeled rides are easy to maneuver and get major style points.
Some models are available at REI, others at at least a dozen local bike shops in OC; just check Electra’s dealer locator online.
