Featured Boutique: Blend

Wear to Where: Blend

11.23.11

I knew I was going love Blend at the Cove before I even walked in and it didn't disappoint.  It's a contemporary women’s clothing boutique with a focus on easy to wear weekday to weekend clothes for a gal on the go.  Blend reminds me of a well-edited closet filled with basics fit for any woman’s wardrobe.  True to their namesake, they carry those classic pieces that "blend" with (and enhance) what you already own, while still staying within the reasonable price range of $30 to $300.

Style maven and brainchild Beth Zehnder wanted her boutique to be like a “curated closet” with clothing you’d want to covet for years to come, whether it's a fabulous coat or the perfect party dress or those pieces you want to covet every day like a great fitting t-shirt or that favorite pair of jeans.

BLEND | 410 W. Coast Hwy in Newport Beach. 949.230.8252.

What I love best about this boutique is their selection. They feature up and coming designers, popular brands and designers that are unique to Orange County like National Basics, Matta scarves made of 100% silk, Heather, Corey Lynn Calter, Tysa, Ula Johnson, Kain Label, and my favorite denim line MOTHER.

Whether you grab some goods for yourself or purchase presents for fashionable friends, you'll be glad you added this store to your list of must stop shops this holiday season.  Head into Blend anytime in the month of December and mention this column to receive 10% off any purchase.

Aliso Creek Inn & Golf Course

Sweet Honey in Aliso

11.22.11

It won’t get much greener than this. Aliso Creek Inn & Golf Course in Laguna Beach is debuting a hyper-local garden to grow herbs and vegetables for the kitchen and the produce will debut in the spring. Another green initiative at the hotel, Aliso Creek also has a bee-hive to produce local wildflower honey.

Executive Chef Jennifer Gonzalez and Bee Keeper and catering director Andrea Wilde are implementing organic gardening with local soil and compost from the property to provide tasty vegetables and herbs, and the local honey make a fabulous addition to the culinary programs.

Aliso Creek Inn & Golf Course is an 83 acre, 60 suite resort at 31106 South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach. 949.499.2271, or visit www.alisocreekinn.com
