Razor Stubble No More
11.20.13
With the help of The Soft Goat scratchy and sharp facial hair will become a thing of the past. Mike Finfrock of Newport Beach created the never seen before grooming tool that uses a hypoallergenic pad to soften the razor sharp edges of facial hair that trimming and shaving leave behind. Now men can achieve a soft to the touch stubble.
"Facial stubble is the most controversial topic when it comes to men's grooming and sex appeal, primarily because of the negative scratchy effects it has on loved ones," Finfrock said. "After personally experiencing this with my own girlfriend's face, I set out to find a solution. Due to the lack of effective alternatives on the market, I created The Soft Goat."
The Soft Goat includes 3 hypoallergenic pads and sells for $11.99. It is available at TheSoftGoat.com as well as on Amazon.com, Thestache.com, Royalshave.com, MensDirect.com, and TheGroomingLounge.com.
The Soft Goat is specifically designed for men, but Finfrock is developing its female counterpart, Soften Her http://softenher.com/. Soften Her is intended to soften and exfoliate between hair removal sessions.

Selanne’s Sophisticated Steakhouse
11.19.13
When Selanne Steak Tavern opens Friday in Laguna Beach, Orange County will be in for a treat. Selanne Steak Tavern is a new sophisticated upscale steakhouse unlike anything else we’ve seen. Owners Anaheim Ducks' forward Teemu Selanne and partner Kevin Pratt went all out to transform a historic 1934 home on the Pacific Coast Highway, formerly French 75, into a light and airy two-level restaurant with a warm tavern-style bar and a beautiful outdoor patio with ornately pierced lanterns.
Selanne Steak Tavern features New American cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Joshua Severson, formerly at St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort. The menu features an array of chops and steaks, including Angus filet mignon, flat iron, prime and prime rib eye as well as poultry and fish delicacies such as Buddha Petaluma chicken and Skuna Bay Salmon. Pastry Chef Heather Fisher will be serving classic desserts with a modern twist including apple pie in a jar, s’mores, sticky toffee pudding and pumpkin crème Brûlée.
Fine wine aficionados will appreciate the wine collection overseen by director of operations Leo Fenn who focused on Napa cult wines and hand-select California vineyards including Chardonnays, Cabernets, Cabernet blends and highly allocated, low production, highly rated selections. Fenn’s wine program will also include “The BlackList,” which offers high-end, hard-to-find wines from around the world listed on an iPad app – among them Screaming Eagle, Harlan Estate, Sine Qua Non, Dana, Scarecrow, Masseto and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
The décor, residential in style, features elements of whimsy with quartz mineral accents, framed butterflies and an antique zinc horse head from mid-18th century France. Historic elements such as the original brick fireplace and etched glass windows are paired with contemporary touches, such as Laguna Beach artist, Nick Gaetano large abstracts; smoked glass mirrors; and bathrooms with fire glazed patterned tile flooring and crystal chandeliers.
Open for dinner only, Tuesday to Sunday, 4 to 11 p.m.; until midnight on Friday and Saturday
Selanne Steak Tavern is at 1464 South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach. 949.715.9881.
