Pacific Arts Movement’s Spring Showcase

The Pacific Arts Movement’s 5th annual San Diego Asian Film Festival Spring Showcase is a 10 day celebration of Asian cinema from Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 25 with 16 films premiering mostly at the Mission Valley UltraStar Cinemas at Hazard Center in San Diego.
We are giving four passes to any film to one lucky reader if you mention this giveaway on our Facebook page. We will announce the winner on Friday, April 10.
The Spring Showcase will host opening and closing events, red carpet screenings, compelling Q&As with filmmakers and a film retrospective commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon.
The special features in this year's Spring Showcase include:
Opening Night - IN FOOTBALL WE TRUST, the California premiere of the hit Sundance documentary that follows four young Polynesian NFL hopefuls using football as a way out of poverty and gang violence.
Closing Night - TOP SPIN, an inspiring documentary that features three teenagers who are among the highest ranked table tennis players in the nation.
A key feature of this year’s Spring Showcase is, Cinema Little Saigon, a traveling film retrospective commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. Curated by Pac-Arts, the compelling retrospective will highlight films spanning from the 1990s to today.

Low Water Solutions at Roger’s Gardens

Now that Governor Brown declared a mandatory 25% water conservation for California, many are wondering how that will also impact their gardens. Roger’s Gardens in Newport Beach is here to the rescue to help provide solutions to using less water while still having beautiful gardens.
Roger’s is a leader on removing lawns, improving irrigation system, replacing thirsty plants with Cal Friendly low water plants, they also offer a multi-faceted public water education program, and much more. Nearly ten years ago, Roger’s landscape was converted to low-water California Friendly plants and converted to weather sensitive SMART irrigation methods, low-volume spray heads, zero-runoff irrigation and much more.
You can become involved and also enter to win the 8th annual California Friendly Gardening Solutions Contest to show off your California Friendly garden. A California Friendly garden features smart and sustainable landscaping. It is designed in harmony with the surrounding environment using beautiful less-than-thirsty plants, state of the art irrigation control, and precision sprinkler heads.
The California Friendly Garden Contest celebrates and rewards these outstanding gardens with cash prizes and other awards. The first place winner will receive $1500. The contest runs through May 22. Details on how to enter are here.
