Winner’s Circle Shoes, Lucky Winning Horseshoes

Steve Melen of Winner’s Circle Shoes, a self-described financial advisor by weekday, sports dad and racehorse owner by the weekend, along with his fiancé, Tanya Brandt, a former creative landscape designer collect winning horseshoes from across the country so that everyone can own a piece of luck. Melen is also a stomach cancer survivor who grew up with Brandt in Saratoga, California and after Steve beat stomach cancer, he felt lucky to be alive and dreamed of owning a race horse--so he did. Now, Steve and Tanya are sharing their story and luck with custom framed Winner's Circle Shoes and gifts to commemorate love, life and special occasions.

Winner’s Circle Shoes offerings also include —“Get Lucky” hats and one-of-a-kind lucky charms handcrafted from melted down horseshoes acquired by the farrier. And, for the holidays, they’re offering the Mistletoe Horseshoe. You can hang a horseshoe above the doorway to bring good luck into your home. Each shoe is from a horse that crossed the finish line first in their race. All shoes come with a certificate of authorization. The Mistletoe Horseshoe cost $25, with $5 going to the American Red Cross for disaster relief.

HOLIDAY UNVEILS NEW LIVE MUSIC

Holiday, Westside Costa Mesa’s newest cocktail lounge, just unveiled a full calendar of live music and entertainment nightly Thursdays through Saturdays. Headliners performing in the intimate concert house include Bow Wow Wow on Oct. 28; The Untouchables on Nov. 4; and Missing Persons on Dec. 2. 

On Thursday, Oct. 26 Holiday is hosting Country Strong, a night to benefit the Las Vegas Victims Fund with Daniel Bonte & the Bonafide with DJ Coral and Special Guest Ry Bradley. The entire schedule can be found here.

Following a recent interior revamp, the art deco inspired social bar has set the stage to present a robust schedule of free and ticketed live music events that includes country music on Thursdays, indie contemporary bands on Fridays and '70s and '80s tribute acts on Saturdays.

Aside from select shows, most concerts at Holiday are free to attend. The low-lit throwback bar serves modern interpretations of classic cocktails, local craft beers on tap and a curated selection of popular and interesting wines.

Holiday opens at 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday nights and on select evenings for special concerts and events. Happy hour is nightly from 8-10 p.m.
