Orange County’s Top Leaders Unite To End Homelessness

02.27.18

“United to End Homelessness,” a community-wide initiative led by Orange County United Way and comprised of top leaders from business, philanthropic, government and faith-based sectors will officially launch on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at University of California, Irvine.

Its mission is to ensure that integrated and sustainable solutions are implemented for people suffering from homelessness in Orange County. At the event, “United to End Homelessness” will announce its leadership team while rolling out a comprehensive Public Awareness campaign to educate the Orange County community about who the homeless are, their needs and what must happen to provide long-term, sustainable solutions. This includes bringing existing and new units online to permanently house our community’s homeless individuals.

The program will be led by United Way President and CEO Susan B. Parks and will include remarks by Irvine Mayor Don Wagner, UC Irvine Chancellor Howard Gillman, United to End Homelessness Leadership Council Chair Larry Armstrong, and Robert Morse, a formerly homeless individual-turned local homeless advocate. Rick and Kay Warren, Saddleback Church, will also participate via video message.

57th annual Adoption Guild Patroness Spring Luncheon

02.26.18

Anyone looking to “adopt” a worthy cause can do no better than joining the 57th annual Adoption Guild Patroness Spring Luncheon, “Celebrating Family.”  It will be held on March 2, 2018, at the Newport Beach Country Club, where 250 guests will dine together in the ballroom while watching a fashion show sponsored by Grayse, the new design house from mother/daughter duo Marie Gray and Kelly Gray.

These two Orange County icons (formerly of St. John Knits) will dress the models in the spring collection from Grayse, which puts a modern spin on luxurious separates. Of course, the fun begins much earlier, as guests enjoy a welcoming champagne reception inside and outside on the terrace overlooking the golf course, where they can check out the must-have wares of local vendors who offer jewelry, handbags, clothing, linens, and fashion accessories.

The event, which runs from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m, is always a big draw and tickets sell out early, due to the prizes offered by generous donors.

Tickets are tax-deductible: Holy Family Services (now HFS) is a state-licensed, non-denominational nonprofit 501(c)3 agency providing quality adoption services to residents of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties.

For tickets and more information, visit the website at adoptionguild.org, or contact Maria Zucht: mariazucht@yahoo.com

Newport Beach Country Club is at One Clubhouse Drive in Newport Beach.
