Don’t Let Fashion Go To Waste at H&M
09.08.15
On a recent shopping trip to H&M at South Coast Plaza, we learned about their "Close the Loop" campaign that just launched and global garment collection initiative that not only benefits the environment, it benefits your pocketbook. You can bring bags of unwanted clothes—no matter the brand or condition—and receive a 15% discount voucher off your next purchase.
The clothes are taken to a processing plant, where they're sorted and graded into three categories: Rewear: clothing that is in good condition and can be used again is distributed worldwide as second-hand goods. Reuse: items that are too worn and torn to wear will be converted into other products. And Recycle--textiles that cannot be reworn or reused are given a new chance as textile fibers. This way, your old clothes can be transformed into new garments.
Recycle your clothes at H&M and they’ll give them new life.
H&M hast two locations at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa; Westfield MainPlace in Santa Ana; Block at Orange in Orange; Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine; Shops at Mission Viejo in Mission Viejo; Brea Mall in Brea.

Grilled Cheese Trucks Partners with OC Rescue Mission
09.08.15
The Grilled Cheese Truck has formed a partnership and pilot program with the Orange County Rescue Mission to benefit veterans and those in need.
The new partnership looks like this: veterans and others living in the Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope will prepare and serve the food, as well as the manage booking food truck venues and dates for Orange County’s new Grilled Cheese Truck.
Profit from the Orange County Grilled Cheese Truck will be shared 50-50 between the Orange County Rescue Mission and The Grilled Cheese Truck, Inc.
“Our company’s mission is to create and provide thousands of jobs and ownership opportunities to qualified U.S. veterans. Partnering with the Orange County Rescue Mission, which serves more homeless veterans than any other privately funded organization in Orange County, is our perfect opportunity,” Al Hodges, CEO of The Grilled Cheese Truck, Inc. says.
“In fact, right now Orange County has the 6th largest homeless veteran population in the country,” Hodges says. “We anticipate starting here, and then using this as a model of operation, we will expand across rescue missions nationwide.”
The Grilled Cheese Truck serves gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches (melts) on wheat or French bread with a selection of cheeses including gruyere, brie, habanero jack, American, sharp cheddar and sun-dried tomato goat cheese.
Savory menu items include BBQ smoked pork, mac and cheese, homemade chili, fresh avocado, applewood bacon, smoked turkey, caramelized onions and caramelized mushrooms, fire-roasted tomato salsa, sliced red onions, sliced apples, fresh basil, bread-and-butter pickles, sliced ripe tomatoes, and sliced pears.
Dessert melt options include Nutella, toasted marshmallows, brown-butter apples, candied walnuts, peanut butter and graham crackers.
You can also order a cup or a “shot” of tomato soup, a cup of mac and cheese, tater tots with sea salt, and a variety of dipping sauces.
For a daily schedule of venues and more information, visit The Grilled Cheese Truck.
