Sessions West Coast Deli Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary with Specials and Film Premiere
06.26.24
Sessions West Coast Deli, known for its chef-crafted sandwiches at six locations throughout Orange County, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a week of specials culminating in the premiere of its feature film, Baja Sessions. Running through Friday, June 28, Sessions will offer one of its best-selling sandwiches for $10 each day.
The celebration concludes with the worldwide premiere of the Baja Sessions surf film at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Ancillary Studios in Costa Mesa, followed by an afterparty at Sessions’ South Coast Plaza location.
Since its inception in 2014 in a modest space on Newport Beach’s iconic peninsula, Sessions West Coast Deli has redefined the neighborhood sandwich shop. Its chef-driven menu, featuring premium ingredients, quickly gained national attention. Sessions’ award-winning sandwiches are known for their vibrant, seasonal ingredients and complex flavors, elevating the gourmet deli experience.
From Monday, June 24 to Friday, June 28, Sessions will offer one of its most popular sandwiches each day, along with its noted Shaka Spuds, for only $10 in honor of its 10-year milestone:
- Monday, June 24: GOODMOTHER – Genoa salami, country ham, lemon ricotta, shaved red onion, cherry pepper, parmesan, baby gem lettuce, herb vinaigrette, ciabatta.
- Tuesday, June 25: YOGI – Chicken, avocado, basil pesto, cucumber, marinated tomato, arugula, French roll.
- Wednesday, June 26: MEDDOCK MELEE – Chicken, jalapeño jack, avocado, sprouts, marinated tomato, cherry pepper, adobo buttermilk, squaw.
- Thursday, June 27: BIG TUNA MELT – Dill albacore tuna salad, Swiss, garlic pickle, sriracha aioli, rustic Italian.
- Friday, June 28: SUMMER ZEPHYR (Sandwich of the Year) – Fresh mozzarella, marinated tomato, pickled onion, basil aioli, arugula, balsamic reduction, French roll.
Earlier this year, Sessions West Coast Deli partnered with Costa Coffee to follow the Sessions Surf Team, ten professional surfers from Orange County, on their journey to Baja, Mexico. Their shared experiences formed the basis of Baja Sessions, a film made for Fuel TV. The public is invited to attend the worldwide premiere of Baja Sessions at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Ancillary Studios in Costa Mesa. Following the film’s debut, the surfers-turned-movie stars will be celebrated at an afterparty on the newly remodeled patio at the nearby Sessions South Coast Plaza.
While there is no cost to attend the screening of Baja Sessions on Saturday, June 29, seats are limited and guests must reserve theirs at sessionswcd.com.

Plant-O-Rama Plant Sale Returns to Sherman Library & Gardens!
06.24.24
The Plant-O-Rama plant sale is making a comeback at Sherman Gardens on Saturday and Sunday, July 20 & 21. This retro event, first introduced in 1972, will feature a diverse array of plants and plant experts from various participating plant societies, including the California Native Plant Society, Los Angeles International Fern Society, Newport Harbor Orchid Society, Orange County Begonia Society, Saddleback Valley Bromeliad Society, and Southern California Carnivorous Plant Enthusiasts.
Originally started by former Gardens Director Wade Roberts as a fundraiser for the Sherman Foundation, Plant-O-Rama has a rich history. Back in 1972, former Horticulture Manager John Bishop managed the nursery at the Sherman Foundation Experimental Center in Dana Point. Bishop recalled, “People always asked if plants from the garden were for sale. It seemed like the right thing to do, and the facility was available to grow the plants. It was a very popular event, with people arriving early and waiting in the parking lot until the gardens opened.”
Plant-O-Rama has always been known for showcasing local plant societies and offering a unique variety of houseplants, tropicals, hanging baskets, and succulents. In 2024, the plant craze remains strong, prompting collaboration with local plant societies to provide visitors with an exceptional selection of unique plants. Executive Director of Sherman Library & Gardens, Scott LaFleur, suggests, “Take a hint from the patrons of the original Plant-O-Rama and come early for the best selection.”
This special event supports Sherman Library & Gardens and local plant societies and is FREE with garden admission, which is only $5 and always free for members.
Saturday & Sunday, July 20 & 21, 10:30 am – 4 pm each day
