Día de los Muertos Rooftop Brunch at Top of the V

Top of the V at The Viv Hotel in Anaheim will celebrate Día de los Muertos with a special rooftop brunch on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Perched above the city with panoramic views, the restaurant will offer a buffet inspired by the flavors and traditions of the holiday, with live mariachi and festive cocktails.

The menu features Mexican classics and house specialties, including:
• Chilaquiles with pickled onion, red epazote salsa, and carnitas
• Huevos rancheros with sunny-side-up eggs, ranchero salsa, cilantro, and queso fresco
• Torta de huevo on baguette with salsa quemada, lime crema, queso fresco, and refried beans
• Chicken and beef tamales
• Roasted chicken with mole negro
• Chicken tortilla soup, black beans, and Mexican rice
• Tacos de papa with queso fresco, lime crema, and lettuce

A dessert bar will include flan, conchas, pan de muerto, tres leches cake, buñuelos, horchata, and fresh seasonal fruit. Bottomless Marigold Mimosas and Santa Sangre Bloody Marys will be available for an additional charge.

Top of the V’s Día de los Muertos Brunch is $62 per adult and $24 for children 12 and under. Reservations are recommended through OpenTable.

Sip & Shuck Returns to Laguna Beach Nov. 2 to Benefit CASA

The Deck on Laguna Beach and Driftwood Kitchen, together with The Bungalows at Pacific Edge Hotel, will bring back Sip & Shuck on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 2 to 6 p.m. (VIP entry at 1 p.m.). 

The eleventh annual beachside event benefits CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Orange County and offers guests the chance to enjoy hand-shucked oysters, champagne, sparkling wines, spirits and more from around the world with panoramic ocean views. Executive Chef Rainer Schwarz and his culinary team will prepare tastings from The Deck and Driftwood Kitchen.

This year’s event partners include Corralejo Tequila, Ron Zacapa Rum, Captain Morgan Rum, Patron, Ketel One, Hennessy VSOP, Johnny Walker, Makers Mark, McQueen Gin, Cointreau, Mount Gay, Cloudy Bay, San Benedetto water, Breakthrough belle glos, Hornitos, Minuty Rosé, Volcan Tequila, Veuve VIP, Sir Davis, Jose Cuervo, Blue Ice, Don Julio, Casamigos and Illegal Mezcal.

General admission tickets for the 21-and-over event are available now. VIP admission includes early entry at 1 p.m., exclusive Oceanfront Lounge access and Caviar Service while it lasts from 1 to 2 p.m. All tickets include oysters and additional bites, along with access to champagne, wine, cocktail and beer tastings.
