1. Why hair?
Let me be honest, i'm not going to say it was what I always wanted to do from a young age, I have always been into fashion and one thing lead to another and doors opened up to me in this career so I gave it a try; I've never looked back! It was the best decision and direction I could have made and taken with my life.
2.What trends are you liking?
Texture, it's all about texture long or short
3. What advice would you give to an aspiring hair stylist?
To educate yourself and never stop educating yourself.
4. Where did you get your start in hair-styling?
I started with two guys who had worked with Vidal Sassoon for many years and had started their own salon. They later went to Allen Edwards.
5. Do you have a style Icon?
Vidal Sassoon.
6. What's your favorite part of your career?
The creativity that is allowed to us and the people we come across in our industry.
7. What's the one hair care product we should invest in?
The most important product to own is a professional blow dryer and flat iron. Then the correct shampoo and conditioner.
8. What's the most damaging thing we can do to our hair?
Doing your own color to try and save money, it will end up costing more in the long run.
9. Where do you get inspiration for new looks?
The street, magazines, classes, co-workers. I also try to get to New York twice per year for education and to get a feel of what's "happening".
10. What do you do to relax?
Paddle board and photography.
11. Is there and O.C. "look"?
Blonde.
12. What's your most requested hairstyle of the moment?
People want movement in hair again, whether its long or short curls and waves.
13.What's your most proud moment of your career?
Going into business and opening up my salon and building it to where it is today. Celebrating 30 years!
14. What would you recommend to combat thinning hair?
Do not stress! there are many options out there. We are currently working with Intra-force by Redken.
15. Favorite vacation spot?
Barcelona, Spain. Although,I have not been to Italy, yet...
16. Favorite drink?
Cadillac Margarita and of course a nice glass of red wine.
17. What can't you live without?
My wife and my three daughters.
18. If you had to begin a different career, what would you do?
Photographer
19.What are some of your favorite restaurants in OC?
Flemings, Tabu, Wineworks.
20. What's next on your list of things to do?
Continue to build our business and strive to assemble the best team of hairdressers, then travel!

Dog Days of Summer

SusieCakes is celebrating the Dog Days of Summer through during August to support National Dog Shelter Day. Stop by SusieCakes in Newport Beach and donate a new pet accessory and you’ll receive during a 2-for-1 special on cupcakes.
On Aug. 26, National Dog Shelter Day, SusieCakes will donate all items collected to local shelters. SusieCakes is asking for dog toys, dog treats, dry dog food, blankets and towels, dog beds, and leashes and collars. The cupcake offers is good for in store purchases only, limited to two dozen cupcakes.
