National Scholastic Skateboarding League (NSSL) celebrates its riders with an awards night and fundraising dinner at Hurley HQ in Costa Mesa on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. School skate team riders and coaches can attend for free, all others entrance costs $25 or 5 for $100. First made by small, independent cobblers in and around Palm Beach, Jack Rogers put the sandal into expanded production in 1961. As it became available to more and more fashionable women from coast to coast, the classic sandal became an immediate hit.
