Viva Oscar’s Fish Tacos!
02.25.13
The next time you’re in San Diego and craving Baja-style fish tacos, it will be worth your while to seek out Oscar’s Mexican Seafood. We haven’t found anything quite like it in Orange County, which is too bad for us. This hole in the wall is the place to go for the freshest Mexican style seafood, surf and turf tacos, ceviche, cucurachas (deep fried shrimp with shell on) and more. You’d swear you were at one of the great seaside stands in Ensenada. Oscar’s is in the sleepy town of Pacific Beach, just five seats, and takes cash only.
Plan on ordering at the counter and eating at a table outside. You’ll be in fish taco heaven. We recommend the generous sized fish or shrimp ceviche, spicy shrimp taco with cheese, cabbage, onion, tomato and cilantro, and the Torta de Oscar with smoked fish, spicy shrimp, skirt steak, cabbage, cheese, onion, tomato, cilantro and avocado. You can choose from three homemade salsas to add spice to your order, and wash it down with a cold Mexican soda or jarritos.
Happy hour specials Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. means you can order .99 cents tacos or a free fish taco with any order.
Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
703 Turquoise St. in San Diego.

Love Your Skin
02.25.13
If your skin is in need of rejuvenation and special attention make an appointment with Robin Marie Skin Therapy, one of our favorite estheticians in Newport Beach. She’s offering a special through the end of March on a MicroPeel procedure: it’s a two-step clinical procedure combining dermaplaning, and chemical peeling to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, laxity, dullness, and skin imperfections.
Dermaplace is a painless, manual exfoliation technique that safely removes surface debris with a dermaplaning blade, making the skin perfect for the chemical peel solution. The chemical peel offers optimized solutions formulated for resurfacing the skin by removing the outer epidermis and stimulating collagen to improve hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, texture and skin impurities.
Normally the treatment costs $125, but through the end of March it's only $90, and just the Dermaplaning alone with no chemical is $65 right now, which is normally $100. Robin Marie Skin Therapy is at Newport Center Aesthetics and Beauty at 1441 Avocado Ave., Suite 601 in Newport Beach. 949.640.8520 or 949.331.3379.
