Giving Back at Lulu Too
09.24.13
Last year, Alli Dafferner and Maggie O’Melveny opened Lulu Too Boutique on E. 17th Street in Costa Mesa. They specialize in amazing and affordable finds, from Allen Allen, Flying Monkey, Love Stitch, Lumiere and many more. One of the things that separates Lulu Too from other boutiques is the philosophy the co-owners live by, and share with their customers.
They believe in giving back to the community that has been so supportive of their endeavor. Whether it's Cause T-shirt Tuesday (wear any t shirt supporting a non profit and get 20% off with 10% going to that weeks charity), hosting book signings, college care package nights, or fun Champagne Fridays, Maggie and Alli seem to find a way to make every shopping day at lulu too fun.
There are rules at Lulu Too. Once you step through the door you may not use the "f" word (fat) or say anything hurtful about yourself. "It's like being invited into someone's cozy home, and feeling safe and cared for," Maggie said. Just a minute in the dressing room and you will feel moved by all the quotes and positive statements on the walls. "I'm trying to raise my daughters strong, with a strong sense of self, and empowerment. That goes for everyone who walks through our door." There are a few things you know you will leave with when you shop at Lulu Too, a bag full of soft yummy clothes, a feeling of belonging, a warm hug. But most of all you will leave planning on coming back again and again.
Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
333 E. 17th St. in Costa Mesa. 949.232.8354.
