Leslie’s Lust List | Hint’s of Neon
06.06.12
Are you ready Orange County, because brights are big for the next two seasons and NEON is at the forefront.
Coming off a more drab Fall/Winter color palette, it can take a fashion forward mind to know how to incorporate just the right amount of neon and avoid looking nuclear. But, it can be pulled off successfully as long as you keep some rules in mind; like using electric pops of color with discretion. It’s certainly not a good idea to try to wear neon head to toe, or wear multiple colors of neon all at once. The goal is to look current and fashionable without appearing like you are wearing an 80s-themed costume.
In other words, use neon in small doses. Maybe add a purse, belt, scarf or shoe to an otherwise neutral outfit for a fresh splash of color, and keep the neon pieces simple, in clean lines and a fitted silhouette. Although this trend might not be for everyone, it can be brilliantly pulled off to look very classic and lady like. Take a look at my website for some Bright Ideas on Neon.

New Menu at Crow Bar and Kitchen
06.03.12
The Crow Bar and Kitchen in Corona del Mar just announced their new menu by James Beard nominated chef John Cuevas. The menu is a pleasure to read. It not only features their famous burgers but also gives history of the importance of local farms, and their beer list is hard to put down.
For example, their guest keg Stone’s More Black than Brown IPA reads deep brown, a bit hazy, with tan foam, a powerful hop blend. Modest body with lingering bitter, drying end hints of roasted malt/chocolate. After reading that, how can you not want to wash down your BBQ pork belly sliders with that tasty IPA.
As opposed to a place like the Counter, which trusts the diner to make good menu decisions, the Crow Bar invites you to trust Chef John Cuevas. His signature crow burger made with five ounces of their proprietary blend of all natural angus and prime beef with tallegio and gorgonzola, house made ketchup, wild rocket on a rosemary bun is a solid menu choice paired with their new wild arugula salad with candied bacon, a poached ranch egg, sherry dressing and pecorino romano.
Whatever you try on their new menu it will not disappoint. After a long day at the beach this summer, give the new items a try as well as kick back with some familiar favorites.
