Experience the Magic of the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade at Post 291!
12.04.24
The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 291 invite you to experience Five Nights of Holiday Cheer during the 116th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. Taking place from December 18 to December 22, 2024, this premier holiday event offers waterfront views, entertainment, and reserved seating, open to the public at the picturesque American Legion Newport Harbor Post 291.
With over 100 decorated yachts and boats adorned in dazzling lights, this cherished tradition promises a magical evening for all. The parade begins passing Post 291 at approximately 6:55 p.m., offering an ideal vantage point to take in the spectacular sights.
This year’s theme, “Feliz Navidad,” adds a festive twist to the celebration. A donation of $55 per person secures a reserved seat for the entire evening, with proceeds benefiting troops, veterans, and their families. This fee also includes access to a delicious taco bar featuring:
- Mexican noodle soup
- Tacos with all the fixings
- Rice and beans
- Tamales
- Southwestern salad
- Dessert
Guests will be seated on the outdoor patio with views of the water. Most tables accommodate six guests, and groups of five are required to purchase a table of six. Smaller parties will share tables with other attendees. Heater lamps will be available, but dressing warmly is recommended for added comfort.
A no-host bar will serve drinks throughout the evening, and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be available near the buffet. Guests may also bring their own bottled wine, subject to a $10 corkage fee.
Event Schedule
- Check-In: Begins at 4 p.m.
- Meal Service: Starts at 5 p.m.
- Boat Parade Viewing: Approximately 6:55 p.m.
Parking is available for members on a first-come, first-served basis at the Post 291 lot, which fills quickly. Non-members can park on local streets or nearby church lots. To avoid parking difficulties, carpooling or using rideshare services like Lyft or Uber is highly recommended.
Please note that outside food and beverages are not permitted, except for bottled wine with corkage. Tickets must be purchased in advance, as no tickets will be sold at the door.

Descanso Restaurant in Costa Mesa is spreading holiday cheer with its Pozole for a Cause initiative, designed to benefit underserved communities and families in need. According to the 2024 Point in Time (PIT) Count, 7,322 individuals are experiencing homelessness in Orange County, and more than 3,000 children in the region face life-threatening illnesses annually. Through December 31, proceeds from every 32oz family-style Pozole order—available for takeout and dine-in—will support three local charities: Miracles for Kids, Trellis - Love Costa Mesa, and Share Ourselves.
Descanso’s Signature Pozole Rojo
This heartwarming dish features a slow-simmered red chile broth made with guajillo and ancho chiles, tender braised pork shoulder, and hominy. Each order is accompanied by corn tortilla chips, sliced onions, radishes, shredded lettuce, limes, oregano, and volcano salsa for added zest.
